Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is one of those novels wrapped in good country values, morals, and a lot of laughter. It's easy to recommend it as a book that's most likely to brighten your day."- Romance Studio

Product Description

Blush: This is a sweet romance (kisses only, no sexual content) Marti Darnell figures the time is long past when she could have bonded with her daughters, both of whom are now married women with lives of their own. But then her husband Harold falls on her and breaks her ankle, and she discovers that life has a way of simultaneously throwing curves and bestowing second chances. When a conglomeration of broken bones, shattered marriages, rekindled love affairs, and a mystery or two disrupt life on the formerly peaceful Darnell Daylily Farm, Marti is forced to rely on her maternal instincts and pray that she doesn’t inadvertently screw up somebody’s life, including her own.

This review is from: Lily for a Day (Kindle Edition)

Lily for a Day warms your heart. Carolynn Carey, award-winning author across subgenres, shines in this exceptional women's fiction novel. The intricately woven tale of Marti and her husband, their two grown daughters, and the complex relationships among them proves both entertaining and hopeful. I wanted to be part of Marti's family, and I read eagerly to get to know each character. After reading the last page, I felt privileged to have been part of their lives as a reader.

When a book starts the way this one does, well, Ms. Carey says it best:

"The day Harold fell off the roof and broke my ankle, I knew our way of life was about to change. I just didn't know how much."

A non-stop ride from smile to smile.

More About the Author

Carolynn Carey was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee, which explains her pleasure in writing books set in a fictional Tennessee town. The quirky and down-to-earth characters in Barbourville face their problems with courage and dignity. A Summer Sentence, Falling for Dallas, and Dealing with Denver are set in Barbourville.

Carolynn also enjoys writing about the Regency period in England. The early 1800s, when the eldest son of King George III was named Regent to rule in his father's stead, are years filled with events in which ordinary people were called upon to face extraordinary challenges. Compromising Situations and Carolynn's novella, "A Tradition of Love," which appears in A Cotillion Country Christmas, are set during that time period.

Carolynn continues to write stories set in Barbourville and during the Regency, so please check back for new selections in the near future.
