4.0 out of 5 stars Good early electronic and expieremental, December 27, 1999
By Ira Sather-Olson (Missoula, Montana) - See all my reviews
For fans of Alec Empire this will sound much more different than "The Destroyer" and "Squeeze the Trigger" but it shows you a good perspective into the boys early work, excellant tracks here, the first acid housey track "suEcide" is excellant, other tracks on it show his expeiremental side, this album can be played for those who think alec empire only does digital hardcore, it will show them wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars before the destroyer and atari teenage riot..., September 18, 2004
By kicksomesoul (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
it's so hard to separate Empire from atr and all the dhr noise that he's become synonymous with. a lot of people who have only heard the noisy side of alec can't understand his earlier, more melodic works. but true alec empire fans will be able to appreciate them all. as a longtime alec empire fan, these are actually my favorite works of his.

alec recorded this album before he was in atr. his earliest stuff is very ambient, very chill, much more melody driven. remember that the original recording of this album came out out on the force inc. sublabel, mille plateux. it was after being on mille plateaux that he established dhr.

consider yourself lucky if you are able to appreciate this album and, for example, the destroyer. you'll respect him even more for being so versatile in his music.

4.0 out of 5 stars I have a little confession, August 25, 2003
By filterite "filterite" (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
I generally don't like Atari Teenage Riot and in some respects this is what kinda put me off buying this CD. A bit of a shame really since the music is really good and you can hear things more clearly unlike the general noise that goes with ATR and later Empire records. It may disappoint some of those who are really noise junkies - there's a bit more melody to it I suppose so you're luck is out on that style ( although Live at CBGB's is out now so you can always get that )

Anyway, if you are a fan of Empire then buy this CD but count yourself out if you want pure noise - this ain't the CD for you
