My wife and I aren't Smartphone people. I bought this for her to replace an old Nokia phone. It is her first touch-screen and even after a year she still has issues using it. The interface is not the most intuitive, and the touch features not as accurate as what one would expect on a higher end model like an iPhone or Galaxy. Time from power on to when you can make a call seems to take forever, but is about a minute. The camera is fairly low-rez, but okay for online images and passable for small printed images.

The S5230 gets the job done. Calls are loud and clear and the battery life is good. She does not use it much and it needs charging after about a week. It has held up well I recommend getting the inexpensive Silicone Skin Case | Star,Pink for it, in addition to a clear screen protector. We don't have a 3G/4G plan and use a prepaid T-mobile one, so I can't speak to it's internet features. Overall it is a cute, inexpensive touch-screen phone that has its issues but works fine once you figure it out. Paying only $100 a year to use the phone for our needs is really the big draw, and if you are a minimalist, I would recommend perhaps getting a more basic phone with a keypad. If you are a Hello Kitty fan, well, then this is probably the one you want if budget is a factor.
