Standing 17-1/2 inches tall, he's a great addition as a table's centerpiece or as a decorative accent to a bookshelf. Nutcrackers in the form of wooden carvings of a soldier, knight, king, or other profession have existed since at least the 15th century, and the Steinbach family has been creating their uniquely designed wood-carved nutcrackers for most of two centuries.

The Kurt Adler company celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2006, and it has been importing Christmas ornaments from around the world since 1950. It began with hand-made angels from East and West Germany then moved to spun glass ornaments and glass balls from Czechoslovakia and holiday goods from the Far East.
