This book combines excellent teaching, relevant scripture and a gripping personal stories to show us the depth of our Father's love & forgiveness. Gray encourages and compels us to embrace our position as an adopted son or daughter of God.

My wife, who is a Christian Counselor, states: "As a counselor, I find a large percentage of my clients have daddy issues and benefit greatly from walking through forgiveness. Gray's authentic telling of his experience with fatherlessness is one I wish all my clients could here. Gray's story is a living example of how God lovingly forgives us and invites us to be free from the chains of our past by forgiving others."

I've read many gospel-filled, inspirational books by well-known Christian authors, but none that have spoken to my heart like this one. If you want a book that will allow you to keep your status quo, this is not for you. This book is for those who are ready to finally break free from restrictive, suffocating labels and replace them with God-given labels that will equip them to lay hold of His mission for their life. With every chapter, you will feel empowered and ignited as you are filled with the power of truth and grace. This book will undoubtedly alter your world and fire you up-you'll want to share it with everyone you know!!!

Author Derwin Gray speaks of change and of transition and in this book, he sets out in ten chapters, a series of meditations on what it means to go from one life without the gospel to another.

There are many anecdotes of hope intermingled with insightful quotes and Biblical allusions. This is also the story of Gray's congregation and we also get a glimpse in to his former NFL career. On pg. 115, Gray writes that "Grace is a person named Jesus," and later in the book he states that "By God's Design, we're worshipers...."

Should you pick up this book? Let me simply put it this way: this won't startle you, but it will encourage you. I found the book's layout a bit disruptive and had trouble picking up momentum. Honestly, it's an excellent small group tool and perhaps that's where the true power of the book will lie...in conversation about our own journeys where we've seen pronounced change.

I found many of the admonitions `go do...be different' types of messages and these are often difficult to swallow because I grow tired, often, of trying harder. But, Gray's book doesn't get in your face with marching orders, instead, he weaves together hope in the form of human stories. I am not sure I buy that I am `limitless' with Christ, but I do buy that with Christ, life can be much different and more satisfying and for that reason, Gray is on to something.

(I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review as part of the booksneeze program)

“If you’re looking to get free, Derwin points the way.” – Mark Batterson

I was worried when I first received this book. Limitless Life? I have heard enough prosperity gospels in my time to know that that’s not something I want to get into. But, my attitude quickly changed when I started reading. I saw some high profile reviews in the front, from the likes of Jefferson Bethke, Judah Smith, and Marshall Faulk. Then I saw the chapter titles:

- Afraid to Courageous
- Addicted to Free

- Mess to Masterpiece

- Orphan to Adopted

- Damaged goods to Trophy of Grace

- Legalistic to Grace-Covered

- Consumer to Contributor

- Purposeless to Purposeful

- Worker to Worshiper

- Failure to Faithful
I quickly realized this wasn’t a prosperity gospel book, but an “I came to give you life, and life fulfilled” type of book. I finally started to read about this limitless life, and quickly fell in love with this book. Not only is Derwin Gray an amazing individual, but God is doing amazing things in his life. He is pastoring a church called Transformation Church. I thought this was awesome! What an amazing name for a church. I loved that from the beginning. Then as this book continues as you see that transformation is what Gray is all about.

The book is set up beautifully. It is set up by using personal stories and then giving you different “Keys” to changing your label. Gray says that we all have labels and when they are negative labels they hold us back, but when our labels are given to us from God, our lives become limitless. So the keys allow us to open our lives up to God. The “Keys” from chapter one, Afraid to Courageous, are:

Key 1: Have a Humble Heart
Key 2: Believe That God and His Love for You Are Bigger Than Your Giant

Key 3: Expect Opposition . . . and Use It as Fuel

Key 4: Remember God’s Past Faithfulness

Key 5: Wear God’s Armor

Key 6: Know You Are Loved
He then adds a mediation section, “Marinate On That!”. This is an area for us to focus on and really take in. This isn't a book he wrote so that you could read in one sitting, it’s suppose to sit in your soul and “wallpaper” your mind. To end every chapter he opens up a “Transformation Moment.” Here he gives you something to do with your Head, Heart, and Hands. This allows you to meditate, pray, and act. It’s a great way for you to take what you learned and put it into practice.

I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to just about everyone. I don’t have any concerns about this, only that you don’t read this too quickly. Enjoy it, love it, Love God through it.

The book Limitless Life, from cover to cover, contains powerful words of freedom from the labels and thoughts that so easily entangle us. In such a easy to read format, Pastor Derwin shines light on the freedom that comes through releasing our fears, burning our barriers, and giving to Christ our full unhindered worship as Christ deserves. I have a few quotes that have resonated with me:

"Don't let issues from the past steal your future joy."
"God the Son became human to do what humanity could not do on its own--restore damaged people to their original purposes."
"Holiness is given to spiritual beggars who, with empty hands, cling to Jesus and His cross."

Trust me you will not regret buying this book and allowing God to transform your life!

Derwin Gray hit this one out of the park! I could not put this book down! Gray shares incredibly personal and powerful true stories that will hit home with every reader. Experiences (both those that we controlled and those that we didn't) have shaped who we are, but this book is a much-needed reminder that our past does not define us and that we can be so much more because God is in control of our future. I became a fan of Pastor Derwin's when a friend shared his book "Hero" with me a few years ago. God is using Gray's fresh perspective and down-to-earth voice to speak to the hearts of many!

You are more than your past! As author Derwin Gray explains in "Limitless Life", you are NOT the negative labels you or others have assigned to you! You have the ability and strength through faith in Christ to overcome any negative labels that you associate with you or your life. Through God's mercy and grace, we have been allowed to redefine ourselves as we learn to live with Jesus Christ in our hearts. Yes, you heard that right, Christ is in us - we just have to believe and accept it. We are not our past failures, disappointments, or perceived shortcomings. Thankfully, we are resurrected through Christ with the ability to tattoo new, positive labels on our hearts. We are not limited by our pasts, but have a limitless future if we choose to believe it. Pastor Derwin has given us a roadmap to living a limitless life in his book. I highly recommend this book if you are ready to determine your God-given purpose!

Jarring, life-changing and inspirational. There are a thousand more adjectives that could be used to describe this book and its impact on the reader. There is nothing ``self help`` about this book, rather, it is ``His help (or grace).``
Whether you are struggling with defeatist labels of your own, or are in a position to work with people held back by their labels, this book is filled with a message of Grace that can give all of us the Limitless Life that God wants for us.
This is definately a book that fits in the category of ``When I`m done, I want to give it to someone else to read...and then I want it back to read again.``

I was done with religion! All religion has done for me is given me a to do list that I couldn't achieve and has pointed to all my inadequacies. Those inadequacies began to be labels that immobilized me. I was stuck -Fearful, not wanting to take any more chances, tired, used up, addicted, a mess, religious etc... Opening the book Limitless Life - the first chapter starts with "From afraid to courageous"...tears...Thus, a journey of freedom began. Gray reintroduces to me a God of mercy and grace - One who is BIGGER than all of those negative labels. With heartfelt vulnerability, he shares his life stories, and of many others to show how God journeys with you through what you may think are mundane, failures or impossible to a life of freedom, hope, purpose, worship. This book is worth your time - I highly recommend it!!
