Book Description

October 15, 2007
For the first time, The Rev. Dr. Prentice Kinser III shares unique stories from parishioners, clients, friends, and family and from his own personal experiences. These provide the foundation for exploring our own spiritual journeys. Some of the non-orthodox topics discussed such as reincarnation, NDEs, guardian angels, meditation and chakras, spiritual guidance, channeling the Spirit, conversations with the Masters, Native American spirituality, spiritual and mind-body healing, may at first challenge our belief systems. At the same time, numerous exercises and Dr. Kinser's sound theological discussions invite us to open up and deepen our faith so that we may encounter true limitless living.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Ancient Otter PublishingTM is proud to present this breakthrough book by Fr. Kinser. Here is a courageous priest who openly discusses topics not often considered by clergy, and he does so with, humor, an open mind and a sympathetic voice. We are a small publishing company devoted to offering books that enable us to playfully explore our world and find more joy in life. We believe LIMITLESS LIVING, A Guide... will help the reader do just that!

From the Author

A warning is in order. This book is clearly labeled as a guide to "unconventional" spiritual practices, i.e., it contains material that is unorthodox. To be orthodox means to "conform to accepted standards and established practice." If you want only traditional spiritual direction please look elsewhere; this text is not for you. I do have a list of some good conventional publications in the Bibliography. There is a vast wealth of such traditional guidance, most of which can be of great benefit in a spiritual journey. I have not tried to duplicate that kind of assistance. However, if you wish to explore areas that some may consider outside of the accepted and standard then you have chosen an appropriate resource.

Perhaps it is not by chance that you are now considering this particular book at this specific time. More than one master has told me that the right teacher is sent when a person is ready. Some of my best teachers have appeared in the form of books to which my hand was drawn, as though by some unseen force. On more than one occasion I felt books "jump" off the shelf into my hands or "pull at me" from the Amazon.com web site. You may be only curious and just beginning to search. That impulse of curiosity is not something that "killed the cat" but rather it is Holy and is driven by the Spirit of God, or Allah, or YHWH to move us toward knowledge and faith.

My purpose in writing this book is twofold. FIRST, I share these pieces of my spiritual journey, these spiritual explorations, insights, and exercises, with the hope that other spiritual pilgrims may be encouraged to search their own inner depths and there encounter the Infinite Mystery of God. In the process, I pray the reader becomes more open to limitless living. It is my hope that by sharing some of my more non-ordinary spiritual explorations, which have been part of my life as a lay person, as an Episcopal priest, pastoral counselor, psychotherapist, and clinical hypnotherapist, and by sharing similar experiences of friends, parishioners, and clients who have given me permission to do so, the reader may be less intimidated by their own logical hesitations or by the conservative elements of their faith traditions. A friend recently said to me, "You know, one of the special things you have done is expose me to all sorts of new possibilities which I could then choose to pursue and explore or not."

My SECOND reason for writing this book is, having lived sixty-eight years of this current lifetime and almost thirty years as a priest, I am learning that in order to proceed with my own spiritual journey I must share with others that which I myself have received as gifts. Native Americans had a wonderful tradition called the "giveaway " (a tradition that has not been totally lost). When a member of a tribe became "rich" that person would gather friends, family and other tribesmen. He would then give to each person part of his riches after having spent a great deal of time trying to choose the gift that would be most useful to the recipient. By doing this they believed they would then be open to continue to receive further riches.

Like those early American brothers and sisters, I think I have experienced so much, I have benefited from the teachings and guidance of so many, I have received such spiritual riches, that I MUST share some of those riches or be blocked from further growth. So I wrote this book to help me, as well as you, thus opening up my heart and soul for new adventures that have already begun.

I think this book does a beautiful job of highlighting ways that we can tap into our spiritual lives to enable "limitless living". The stories from the author's own life are amazing, inspirational, and sometimes mind-blowing. You will enjoy the exercises that he provides, from meditations to instructions on tai chi. I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Limitless Living, November 18, 2007
This review is from: Limitless Living, A Guide to Unconventional Spiritual Exploration and Growth (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed Limitless Living - reading about other peoples spiritual experiences is very uplifting. Most importantly, Dr. Kinsers
ability to follow spirit instead of being bound by cultural and religious
influence. The exercises are written simply which is a great help for anyone who wants help on their own spiritual journey. I earmarked alot of pages which, for me, is indicative of how I feel about a book. I would highly recommend Limitless Living for the spiritually minded.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book, December 3, 2007
This review is from: Limitless Living, A Guide to Unconventional Spiritual Exploration and Growth (Paperback)
In Limitless Living, Dr. Kinser shares details of his fascinating spiritual exploration that began as a young boy writing in his journal and continues today in conversations with his guardian angel. Coming from an Episcopal priest, this nondenominational and multi-faithed book is a delightful surprise. Dr. Kinser is not your ordinary garden-variety priest, teacher, writer; but rather, he is extraordinary. He courageously shares his personal spiritual path as well as his thoughts on reincarnation, near-death expearience, guardian angels, and other unexplainable and controversial issues. If you have an open mind, you will love this book.
