5.0 out of 5 stars Magical Italy through magical Renato Zero's voice..., October 29, 2011
This review is from: L'imperfetto (Audio CD)
I just cannot believe no one has reviewed this amazing piece of work before... This is an album I come back to over and over again, although I don't speak a word in Italian.
Renato Zero is a very talented singer, and he has spent many years in the music business - since the mid 60's. I'm not familiar with all of his work, of-course, there's a lot of albums to hear from Renato Zero, so really, I'm not an avid fan of him... But I believe a few of his albums are fine enough to add them to any music library. He's been through all kinds of music through the years since his career started, glam-rock, disco, ballads, pop... I prefer Renato Zero's calmer period of making music, since the end of the eighties up until now.
This album is cheerful and sad at the same time; Free-spirited and calculated; Soulful and Rockier at the edges; One really can feel his emotions through his singing, the way he delivers the lyrics (though I don't understand a word, as I stated before - but I can feel what's he's trying to say in his songs). The production quality is superb, and you almost cannot tell it's been 17 years since this album was first published! It sounds so fresh, as if it was recorded a few months ago. If you buy this (even used, if you must), pay special attention to the songs "Amando Amando", "Roma Malata", "Digli No & "Dubido" - though all the other tracks are by no means fillers, and you'll enjoy them a lot also!
This was an exciting gift my parents brought to me from their trip to Italy, and I was delightful to 'discover' Renato Zero's gift of music to the world. I only wish he was more popular internationally as he is in his home. At least in the middle-east I never heard about him before I listened to this beautifully crafted album. I'm waiting these days for the arrival of a more recent album of his, "Il Dono" from 2005. I'm sure it has the same magic quality this one has. Discover one of the lasting and brightest star of Italians singers! Enjoy!
