Lincoln Cent 1959-2009 Collector's Folder

This folder is considerably wider and taller than the standard blue Whitman folders or Whitman's Harris & Co. folders. If you already have a number of other more common-sized coin folders, this folder's height will clearly stand out from those folders, which may be undesirable for some. The outside of this folder is plasticized. Its title and spine label are printed in a light blue type against a dark blue background. Its spine is relatively wide and flat, and its large lettering makes it easy to distinguish on the shelf.

The folder has room for 108 coins, with thirty-six slots on each of its three pages. Thus it allows for an extensive collection of pennies from 1959-2009 with an additional un-designated slot. The information provided with each slot is printed in an easy to read light serif font against a dark blue background.

The folder has a fourth sheet which is printed on both sides and is connected, with reinforcement, to the right-side of the third page. There is, however, minimal information on the inner side of this page, with printing on only about a third of the page. The rear page is printed with more information, but the information has not been carefully edited, at least for my first printing copy of this folder, e.g., one quote from the text illustrates this issue, "..the small denomination penny be (sic) used for close to ..." .

This album, is similar in size to my also over-sized Whitman Album, "Abraham Lincoln Cents From Birth to Bicentennial and Beyond 1909-1010". Unlike that Whitman album, this one has three pages of slots, compared to two in the Whitman folder, and it provides considerably more coin slots per page, allowing for a more complete collection rather than just a sampling. It also lies perfectly flat, and is not warped.

Conclusion: Other than slightly careless editing of the folder's brief history of the Lincoln Cent, this is quite an attractive album with the number of slots appropriate for the display of a considerable number of coins -- easy to recommended.

I was very disappointed the folder did not have any slots for the (4) various reverse designs of the 2009. That sould be the whole point of this anniversary folder.
