Buddy Clark was an exceptional singer with a rich warm baritone voice. This collection has all his major hits while he was at Columbia Records. If you would like a beginning disk to start a Buddy Clark collection - this is ideal. His untimely death in an airplane crash on October 1, 1949 at age 37 robbed us of a great talent in popular music. However,his legacy of recorded music still remains for us to treasure.

Buddy Clark could sing just about anything and make it sound splendid. He had some of the best pipes in the business; and the way he sings on this CD proves it! The quality of the sound is relatively good although there is a just a little bit of surface noise here and there; but this shouldn't interfere with your enjoying the music. The artwork is nicely done as well.

"It's a Big Wide Wonderful World" starts the track set with Buddy singing his heart out; he never skips a beat and that's grand. "I'll Get By (As Long as I Have You)" is very beautiful and a personal favorite of mine; the music fits in perfectly with Buddy's vocals but wisely the musicians never even try to steal the show away from Buddy--he's standing front and center which is right where he belongs! "Linda," the title track, couldn't have been done any better; and I really like Buddy's treatment of "I'll Dance at Your Wedding." "I'll Dance at Your Wedding" has a big band flavor that I always enjoy.

"You're Too Dangerous, Cherie" charms me with its natural beauty; and the melody of this classic tune is flawlessly performed by Buddy and the musicians. "I'll See You in My Dreams" shines every bit as bright; Buddy's excellent diction enhances his performance all the more, too. "An Apple Blossom Wedding" is easy on the ear and Buddy's "How Are Things in Glocca Morra?" is a terrific number on this album, too.

"That Old Gang of Mine" is very well done; and listen for Buddy to do a wonderful job on other numbers including "Peg O' My Heart;" the wonderful Latin sounding "South America, Take It Away" with that pretty sounding female chorus; "Ballerina" which has Buddy handling complex tempo and key changes like a pro; "If This Isn't Love" with a great musical arrangement to accompany Buddy as he sings this to perfection and beyond and a very sensitive, poignant "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To."

There are other numbers worthy of mention, too. "K-K-K-Katy" has Buddy singing with an organ as part of the arrangement; and I enjoy hearing Buddy on "You Don't Have to Know the Language" and "(The Treasure Of) Sierra Madre." Great!

Buddy Clark fans should add this to their music collections. This album is also terrific for anyone who enjoys high quality control classic pop vocals.

If you like the easy listening of Buddy Clark, you will love this album. Just play and close your eyes and enjoy.
