3.0 out of 5 stars NOT an Astrology Book!!
Unlike Linda Goodman's SUN SIGNS or LOVE SIGNS, this book, STAR SIGNS is NOT an Astrology Book or anything like the other two books at all.

You do not look up people and read about their personality traits or compatibility with other people, this is just a type of philosophy book you read from front to back.

Basically, think of it as a book the author just wanted to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Star Signs Rocks!, June 29, 2000
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
American poet "Mary Alice" Goodman, as Linda was known all her life to her friends and family, was certainly a much-needed prophet in our time. Linda found that the most profound method of divination lay not only in astrology, yet in the intersection of astrology, lexigrams, and numerology. She explains this all in detail in this most important book, Star Signs.

One does not have to "believe" in anything to buy and read and treasure this book. If you are on a path to enlightenment, as we all are, and you certainly are if you are reading this...no matter the religious denomination, spiritual bent, or magickal background from which you come, this book, as no other ever has nor ever will, will increase your divinatory abilities, and surprise even you, should you be a skeptic.

If you are considering buying this book, I assure you that the day will come when you will do so. And Review #4 is accurate when it mentions that anything since Linda's death in October 1995 which is published post-mortem under her name, is NOT her own work. Relationship Signs, and anything published in her name since 1996, is merely a product of a corporation called LGE, and not only a shameless exploitation of her good name, yet also very inaccurate astrology by non-astrologers, and so much New Age hooey of which Linda never took part. Avoid it. Buy your pre-1996 Linda Goodman books here at Amazon, or used at places like eBay or your local used bookstore.

Linda believed in access to the magic of the Universe by us all. She said that there are shortcuts to enlightenment, no matter what your path. She called these shortcuts...books! I assure you that Linda's books, more than any other books out there, are the shortcuts that will help you realize that enlightenment is indeed a path that we must all walk alone, unique for us all. Linda's books are the truest yellow-brick road I have ever found, and Star Signs is indeed a steppingstone to understanding yourself, others, and the messages that we don't always see...without a little help from a poet and a prophet.

5.0 out of 5 stars My First Spiritual Book, May 31, 2002
By
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first book that I read on spirituality many years ago. I remember it clearly and it makes me happy just thinking about it. I still remember being a struggling/starving college student and reading the section on money. How money was an energy...and that if you told yourself you were poor, you would be poor. And it struck me very deeply, because I always told myself...I'm just a poor college kid. But it all changed after reading this book....my path had begun. This book set the ground work of my future life and the person that I would become. The foundation of all my ideals and perspectives are still in this book.

Even though this book is getting a little old, and Linda Goodman herself has passed on (or maybe not?)...this book still holds true and is worth the money and time to read it. I would suggest this book to anyone, it holds keys to unkown doors!

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT an Astrology Book!!, April 23, 2004

This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
Unlike Linda Goodman's SUN SIGNS or LOVE SIGNS, this book, STAR SIGNS is NOT an Astrology Book or anything like the other two books at all.

You do not look up people and read about their personality traits or compatibility with other people, this is just a type of philosophy book you read from front to back.

Basically, think of it as a book the author just wanted to write about her philosophy of life. (in a "new age" sense)

Not to say this isn't an enjoyable book. I enjoyed reading it. But I did buy it under the impression it was going to be an Astrology book like her others.

If you flip through it at a store, you would see that right away, but for those buying books online from Amazon, I just wanted to make sure this was mentioned so there is no surprise and you know what it is you are buying.

In fact, at the begining she writes:

"The intention of this book is to reveal, among several other metaphysical codes, a key to wisdom previously comprehended by only a few initiate Masters, a secret hidden for centuries in plain sight and unsuspected by the mundane intellect, long blinded to the simplicity of truth."

For those that have other Linda Goodman books, and find her the most accurate of all the authors writing books on Astrology, like I do, it is very interesting to read this book.

But for those that are looking for books on Astrology, this is not the book you might think it is since the title so closely fits the format of her Astrology books.

The best book of all time to have on Astrology, is her book SUN SIGNS. LOVE SIGNS is a great companion book (volume two) as it allows you to look up two SUN SIGNS and see how compatible those two people would be in a love relationship.

STAR SIGNS is a great "New Age" book with some very interesting philosophies on how one should try and live life to get better results from life.

I found this book to be extraordinary! I have read it over and over again as I have progressed through the evolution of my life. In reading and studying this book, I always found something which reached the very depths of my soul at a time when I've needed the information the most. Linda is a true master and story teller, and I would recommend it highly for anyone searching for truth. Her humor, along with the wisdom and messages she conveys are truly magical! For those of you looking for comfort and answers to the problems facing us in the New Age today, especially in the face of the terrorist's attack on America, you must read the chapters, "North-South Polarity Points" and "Playing Musical Eagles". This is a must read! It is timeless and full of great information, which touches the reader at a core level of "knowing". Whatever your interests, you will find it addressed in this wonderful book! But you must read the whole thing! If you jump around, you will miss so much...

5.0 out of 5 stars Linda the Real, May 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
Linda was a true teacher. Her books, every last one of them, are spiritual primers of the highest order and for those, who want to take their seeking to a higher level, her books will give you the required , preparatory grounding and introduction. And from there, you take it to whatever level you want to go to. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone. The mysteries of "Gooberz" got to me in the deepest, most profoundest sense, and I desperately needed answers to some of the myriad of questions it raised and was able to locate her former next-door neighbor, Ruth Cook in Cripple Creek, mentioned in that book. Linda passed on in October 1995 from adult onset diabetes and the mystery of Sally as mentioned in "Love Signs" and "Star Signs" was never fully solved. A body was discovered but Linda never accepted the results. Her twin married that cool-sure-Scorpio mentioned in Gooberz. As for her literary legacy, it's in the hands of a company now, which produced "Relationship Signs". Though that book is quite good in understanding the synastry of charts between two persons, reading it, one is immediately struck by the fact that it's not Linda writing. This is further exacerbated by some glaring astrological mistakes, and quite frankly, I don't think Linda would have been so sloppy. Some of the sentences are definitely her's, while the rest of it is patched up together and for the less-discerning reader to come off as Linda speaking. The real Linda Goodman magic, with her innate ability to click with the reader simply isn't there. Which brings into question the authenticity of future Linda Goodman books, my own feeling is try as that company might, those books won't fly. Linda's not here but her spirit lives on and I think she would want us to take her work and push it and take it to a higher level, whatever that level may be. I don't think she meant us to be spoon-fed and perhaps the lesson of her death despite "Physical Immortality" as per "Star Signs" was for us to keep learning on our own. If there is anyone out there with more info. on Linda and her life, please do contact me. GET ALL HER BOOKS, THEY ARE WORTH IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Start of my Journey, June 16, 2001
By
CCD "Easy_Kid" (Cleveland, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
Many of you who have read her book are reading this review. She has put forth many Spiritual Truths condensed in a single book. Many who have found `love of work' can attest to the truth of her words that money follows automatically. Many who have found good health can attest to her strict diet that she proposes.

With knowledge of Astrology, Numerology and Lexigrams presented to us, I would suggest to many readers to start to put into practice these teachings. Thus, you will be able to attest to her words once again. For those of you who haven't got her `Purple Plates', I urge you to try them out as well. Burns, cuts and headaches tend to disappear very quickly when used.

Of her explanation of Karma, I used to always wonder why, if God is Love and He loved his children equally why would he harm some and glorify others. I realize now that Man has brought all his sins upon himself and has to pay for them through Karma and reincarnation.

Lastly, the list of books provided by Linda is of valuable assistance to the strong of heart. I would suggest getting the book `Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television'. Then unplug your TV and you will have more time to yourself. Then get the book `The Game of Life and How to Play It' by Florence Shinn and put it into practice. Other books that have proved extremely enjoyable are `Secrets of the Soil' & `Secret Life of Plants' by Peter Tompkins and other Joseph Goodavage books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the skeptics, March 19, 2006
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this book a very long time ago, and it is the only one I've kept with me all these years, taking it along on all my travels. Why? I tried the colort diet a few times, and lost all excess weight each and every time. I tried the lexigrams and found them precise. I tried the numerology and was stunned by the results. The big purple plate actually worked for a very big problem, so how can I be anything but a believer? I understand that not everyone approaches this with an open mind, and that might be the reason nothing works for them. After all, the power of each individual mind works to bring about our own realities.

5.0 out of 5 stars It fills you with hope, December 10, 1998

This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
I discovered this book in 1990 when I was 14. It changed my life. It made me really want to live. It gave me hope at a very bleak time in my life. I'm not sure if everything in it is true, but you'll want it to be true. Half-believing its mind-blowing messages are enough! Especially important are its messages on negative thinking and lexigrams. It will lead you to self-discovery as no other book can. I believe it is truly inspiring. There is one thing that deeply troubles me - did Linda really die 3 years ago? That makes me so sad! If anyone has any information verifying or contradicting this information, PLEASE E-MAIL ME! I need to know because reading this book has been one of the most important things that has ever happened to me. Also, did anyone try that color diet? If so, did it work for you? E-mail me. Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual and interesting, June 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
This book will come as something of a surprise to those who are familiar with the author's "Sun signs" and "Love signs" books of Astrology

Star Signs is much more broad based and esoteric than her previous books, and is an easily accessible, fun, yet serious guide to what she claims are ancient wisdoms including:

Star Signs as a guide to your career - the work you were born to do.

Numerology - the vital link between the power of numbers and astrology.

Lexigrams - the ancient codes revealing the hidden meanings of words.

Forgotten Rainbows - the power of gems and light, and how colours shape your life.

Some of the observations and suggestions in Star Signs may seem startling, even unbelievable. Refreshingly, you are encouraged by the author to be sceptical - but to try out her ideas for yourself before deciding whether or not to accept them (of course she believes that you will discover that all of them will work!) I leave you to make your own judgements:-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Will enlighten your mind and soul, and link you to your Self, December 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Linda Goodman's Star Signs (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has been an inspiration and a salvation to me. I believe, not just in Linda, but also in her beliefs. I have no doubt in my mind (and my soul) that she is right ... even about the ideas that some would call "eccentric." A more complete understanding of the material she presents can be obtained from Gooberz. Both these books are essential in the search for true enlightenment. You can't just believe in it ... you have to know it's the truth. In this way can one truly bridge the gap between the temple and the S-elf. For those who wonder about her "death," remember what she wrote in the chapter about Immortality ... sometimes one must disappear and reappear as someone else in order to live a peaceful life, away from negative publicity and away from the dangers of those less enlightened. And the color diet does work ... with no doubt in one's mind, that is.
