Ordered the strainer & pestle just to have handy. It arrived in a few days and unexpectedly was the perfect tool for crushing and removing excess water from the fresh Fairytale pumpkins we just baked. Absolutely a well constructed tool which will likely last a lifetime!

Watch out for the Amazon link, which goes to the smaller pestle. The smaller pestle will not work because the tip of this strainer is quite large and if the pestle slides to one side of the strainer tip the angle is such that the pestle does not touch the surface of the strainer. ie doesn't work. Amazon sells the 13" pestle also.

This strainer is beautifully made and has a 24 year guarantee, probably will last longer than that. You will need a deep pot with a 10" diameter or a stand for big jobs so the strainer can be stabilized on both sides. I use a small deep canning kettle and tie the hook end to the kettle handle, adequate, but I hope I can find a stand that will accept the hook under the handle.
