    Review

Training by Trimester Your body works so hard during pregnancy that your blood volume and endurance increase, which in turn elevates your fitness level. Your body changes drastically as you progress in your pregnancy, explains Lindsay Brin, mother of a 5-month-old girl and creator of the trimester-specific DVD series. Plus, your body may stop reaping the benefits of exercise if you do the same workout again and again. To make the most of your workout in each trimester, it s important to focus on those muscles that are most taxed then, in addition to the ones you need to strengthen for the months ahead, says Brin. In the first trimester, that means focusing on your core, which includes your hips, back, pelvic floor and, most importantly, your deepest abdominal muscle, the transverse abdominis. Your pelvic floor and your transverse support your baby like a sling, so you want them to stay strong, Brin explains. --Fit Pregnancy Magazine

I loved this workout series. I did them with my 3rd child that I had 3 days ago and I can tell you there is a big difference with the way I feel this time then with the other 2 that I didn't do the video. I feel great!!! I loved that it kept my arms toned as well as my butt. I recommend this to all my friends who ask me how I kept the major pregnancy weight off. With my first I gained 45 pounds but with my second and 3rd I gained 18 pounds. It was with the help of these DVD's as well as diet. Get these if you want a great pregnancy workout.

I bought 3 prenatal DVDs when I was approved to exercise (so 2nd trimester) by my doctor: the Summer Sanders Prenatal Workout, the Perfect Prenatal Workout, and this one. This one is by far the best one. The first time I did the workout, I felt sore but comfortably sore. I didn't feel like the other 2 DVDs got me to that point (in fact, Perfect Pregnancy threw out my back). Lindsay is very upbeat, the music is energizing, and the stretching before and after the main workout helps me tremendously. Plus, the yoga section has finally eased the pain I feel in my back from the growing belly. In all, I would recommend this DVD first and the others second.

I highly recommend Lindsay Brin's video for expectant moms. It isn't terribly challenging if you are already physically fit, but it is sufficient to get in a good workout without concern about overdoing it. She offers clear options for ramping up or keeping down the intensity, and she frequently trades off between cardio and toning segments, holding your interest while allowing for necessary breathers. If you are looking for the equivalent of a 5K in terms of cardio during your pregnancy, this is not the video for you, but for all who are looking for a nice sweat with a lovely, cheerful instructor, Lindsay Brin is great.

My one caveat is that the camera work in this video is VERY annoying. There are three women in the video, each demonstrating a different level of intensity with variations. The cameraman had a real knack for focusing closely on one individual while the instructor is describing the other's variation (which you can't see), and you completely miss what they are actually doing until nearly the end of the segment. This is less of a problem when you repeat the video, but it's evident in the entire series. Overall, however, I wouldn't discount the video on that basis alone, and I remain a fan.

I started this DVD at about 13 weeks and am now almost 27 weeks. For the most part I love this video, it gives you good workout and has definitely kept me toned throughtout my second trimester. I am pregnant with my 4th and this is the first baby I've worked out throughout my pregnancy with and I can definitely tell the difference. I feel great heading into my 3rd trimester and still have a lot of energy and can still move in ways that there was just no way I'd be doing at this point with my other kids.
There are a few little quirks I'm not a fan of, she is a little late on the cues but after a few workouts I got to know the routine and so it really doesn't even bother me at all at this point. I've been doing the cadio and toning segment every other day and I still feel like I got a good workout at the end of it. Not too sore but enough to break a little sweat. The yoga I try to do on my 'off' days and it's definitely nice for a good stretch. Not sure if people were trying to use that for the workout but it definitely will not leave you feeling like you do after a workout, I feel pretty relaxed afterwards which is what yoga is supposed to do for you.
I'm happy with it, and I reccomend it to moms all the time. I also did the 1st trimester video and have the 3rd trimester one on it's way right now.

One reason I would have made it 4.5 stars is that the workouts are LONG for a mom. Cadio and toning is 45 minutes...which ends up taking me longer because of the amount of times I have to pause it. I have 3 kids ages 18 months, 5 and 6; I just don't ever have almost an hour to myself. Occasionally I can do it before my kids wake up but most of the time that isn't possible. This isn't so much a consideration for first time moms, or even moms with 1 child that naps.

I tried a bunch of different pregnancy workout dvds before finding Linsday Brin. Of all of the DVDs I tried, hers is heads and shoulders above the other ones. The DVDs are separated by trimesters, giving you a workout tailored to your changing body. In my first trimester I found most other pregnancy DVDs to be too easy, not the case with Lindsay, as a regular exerciser I was challenged without feeling overworked. I also liked the separate yoga section with each DVD. Each workout is 30 minutes which is the perfect amount of time to fit in to your busy day. Lindsay is an upbeat instructor without being annoying. I recommend her DVDs to all my pregnant friends.
