Biography

Before he joined Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham was sketching out his brand of Brian Wilson-influenced pop with Stevie Nicks in the folky duo Buckingham Nicks. Mick Fleetwood invited the duo to join his band in late 1974. After Buckingham joined, the band's pop tendencies flowered under his direction. Not only did he provide the group with some brilliant, surprisingly dark pop songs, he sharpened the other members' songs with his production, arrangements, and breathtaking guitar playing. As a driving force behind one of the most legendary bands of the 70s and 80s, Lindsey Buckingham really should have had more of a solo career. After joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975 with romantic and musical partner Stevie Nicks, Buckingham helped pen many of their hits, including "Go Your Own Way", "The Chain", "Big Love" and "Family Man". Buckingham is frequently credited by other bands members as being a strong creative driving force, as well as acting as their producer and composer.
