Lindt makes very good chocolate!

My own preference is the dark chocolate truffles, but I love the milk chocolate ones almost as much.

These are so smooth and luscious, with great creamy milk chocolate centers.

The plan was to gift these in cute mason jars with pretty chalkboard Christmas tags and mini gold ribbons. I mean, everything is sitting next to me to complete the task: mini mason jars, chalkboard tags, gold ribbon, pen, bows, glue gun and about 16 of the chocolates.

I didn't count and I'm sure the box came with 60 but the problem is these didn't come with a safety so there are approximately 44 that were accidently released into my digestive tract. Now I need to be super creative with the mason jar space, and cross a few people off the gift list.

In my opinion all the varieties of Lindor Truffles are wonderful. My only problem is having to choose just one. While I really like the dark chocolate truffles (blue wraps) my adult children prefer these sweeter milk chocolate ones. Better yet for me would be one of the assortment packages such this one with seven different flavors Lindt Chocolate Lindor Assorted Chocolates Bag, 13.5-Ounce. This will allow you to compare and enjoy a variety of flavors in one sitting.

I like the consistency of Lindt truffles better when they are at a low room temperature of 68F or below since it makes the contrast of the outer shell and soft center more distinct. Keep in mind that it is best to keep truffles away from heat (90s or above) where they would get mushy and possibly melt. Amazon shipping of candies has not been a problem for me even in the summer though I live in New York state. If they do arrive with melt damage you can rely on Amazon to make it right.

We're a fan of Lindt milk chocolate truffles. After reading other reviews here, I was curious about how well they'd travel and whether they'd suffer from shipping conditions. I also noticed that some reviewers didn't find the truffles in optimum condition upon arrival. Maybe that varies from one shipment to another?

But all I can do is share my own experience -which is admittedly based on a single shipment. All the truffles arrived in perfect condition and didn't differ from any we've bought in a local store. They were also fresh and there was no discoloration, a sure sign of temperature changes during shipping - or an older product.

Now for the taste test: they were smooth, creamy and had that "melt in your mouth" quality we've come to expect from Lindt. They didn't last long and we were extremely lucky to have house guests or we'd have devoured them within a day. I have no resistance to Lindt chocolates. I got my fair share, though!

Again, this is based on one experience. But I do plan to order another set. If they differ, I'll update my review.

Lindt products are a little bit more expensive than the low-end chocolates like Hershey's, but you get a much better overall effect in terms of texture and flavor.

If there is still anyone who has never tried a Lindt milk chocolate truffle ball, they are a pretty straightforward and tasty candy. There is an outer shell, much like you find in something like a chocolate-covered cherry, in that it is on the firm side. The inside is filled with a ball of mousse-like truffle filling. The candy has a smooth, buttery mouth-feel with a nice chocolatey punch while still being light. I think that the flavoring has the hint of use of a chocolate liquor/extract, with a bit of lingering on the tongue. Personally I dislike these when they are unchilled. Chilling them adds to both the textural interest and the flavor in my opinion. If they are too warm, the centers will go sort of melty, which some people might really like. Note that if you refrigerate or freeze any chocolate, there is a chance that over time, a whitish bloom will appear on the outside. This isn't really a problem, it's just the cocoa butter in the chocolate; however, if you see that happening, you need to finish up the chocolate sooner than later. Personally I've never found Lindt chocolates to bloom even after lengthy refrigeration.

These are rich candies and they are pretty large balls, so depending on your craving, one might be enough. These are not a candy you can easily over-indulge in due to the richness, so I think they are a good choice if you otherwise have a problem with eating too much chocolate at a sitting.

I offered to review this product because my mother is coming to visit and she loves milk chocolate. I received one 5.1 ounce bag. The candies are wrapped individually in paper with twisted ends and come sealed in a shiny red paper bag. Whoever packaged these chocolates for shipment did Lindt Lindor no favors. The red bag was placed in a brown shipping envelope - lined with thin bubble wrap - you know the kind of shipping envelope I'm talking about. It could come as no surprise that the candies arrived squished, with chocolate leaked out of the ends of the wrappers. There wasn't even one candy that survived the trip. When I asked my 14 year old granddaughters to each taste a truffle, they both said, "Eeeeeeeew!" They are such an unappetizing, gooey mess that there is no way I could offer these candies to my mother as a special treat. As for taste, the entire truffle is a rich, creamy, delicious milk chocolate. There doesn't appear to have been any crisper outer chocolate shell which I associate with truffles, but the damage made it impossible to say for sure. It has not been particularly warm here in Northern California, so I don't blame the damage on heat. I am a big Amazon fan, but I think it may be a mistake to sell fragile truffles through Amazon unless they are boxed and carefully wrapped for shipment. I don't know how to rate this product because the truffles would be delicious when properly shipped. But I can only rate based on my experience, so 1 star because we hated what we received from this vendor. Buy your truffles elsewhere!
