5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Multi effects system's ever!!!
I am a semi pro guitarists, now a lot of people do not trust variable electronic effects systems and think the traditional route is best, for most systems that is correct but not Line 6 equipment. 3.0 out of 5 stars Loved the Tone the Pedal Broke after three sessions
The tones out of this unit are awesome... But the Wah pedal broke on mine after three jam sessions
not much quality there. I went on the Line 6 website and it would appear this is a known issue by line 6.
I returned mine and went back to my old Digitech set up for now.

You can be a novice and use their stuff, an expert has even more goodies to look forward to like USB connectivity and on the fly tone adjustment, not to mention looking at about half the cost when compared to the traditional equipment. Here is my disclaimer, this is not a replacement for the traditional route just an early augmentation and an all around compact, quality, and just plain easy to use system to get you playing with the best in no time. All in all the Pod XT Live is one of the best all around tool a guitarist could ask for!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars All round bad experience., March 28, 2009
This review is from: Line 6 PODxt Live (Electronics)
I bought this effects board thinking "hey this is great. I can get all the effects in one place". The problems just got worse the more i used it. At first i noticed that it made a lot of feedback through my amp and a low thumping noise whenever i palm muted or played low range chords. I took it back to Guitar center and they said "oh it must be a faulty one" and they exchanged it for another. When i hooked the new one up I had the same problem. Tried it on several amp setups (all of which work great with any other effect pedals or guitars. I also thought it might be my guitar, so i tried other guitars with the same problem. I did some research online and didnt find much, just a few forum posts with people with the same issue and just being told that it must be their guitar or amp setup. I decided to take it to a friend of a friend who builds guitar sand repairs guitars and amps. He worked with it for a week and it still had the same issue. The only solution I could find for the problem was using an eq on my effects that cut lows....needless to say that doesnt sound the greatest.

Also, after about a month of using the podxt live with very careful use, (i take very good care of my music equipment), I noticed the wah pedal starting to make a horrible metal grinding sound and not working as it was supposed to. once again looked on the forums for podxt and found that its a known issue with the podxt live.

To summarize, i am not an anti Line 6 guy or anything, i do like some of their amps. However, this pedal board gave me nothing but headaches. The only effects i could seem to use (including factory loaded ones and ones i downloaded from line 6 themselves) without feedback and noise issues were very tinny and sounded highly processed. I couldn't see recomending this pedal board. It wouldnt be too much more costly to just buy the 3 or 4 pedals you use regularly and create your own pedal board.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money for a beginning guitarist!, August 24, 2005

There will always be a debate about which guitar effects are the best or which modeler will get the job done. I've been playing guitar for about a year now, and the POD XT Live is a great choice for amp modeling and guitar effects. Sure, the real amps or effects are going to sound better, but think of the cost. $400 is very reasonable to get all of those different tones you've been looking for. Plus you get access to tons of patches that are available from the Line 6 website. You also get the USB connectivity to record to your computer and great software (Line 6 Edit) to edit your patches and tones on your computer. If you are on the fence on this one, don't be! Get the POD XT Live!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for what I need . . ., November 16, 2010
This review is from: Line 6 PODxt Live (Electronics)
The Pod XT Live sounds good, has lots of fun features, and easily works through a computer. Since I live in an apartment, I can't responsibly play through an amp. This gives me the easy option of headphones and a large sampling of fun effects and sound for a really good price. My iTunes also plays through it when I have it on, so playing along with my favorite songs is loads easier, now.

It's not perfect, though--I dock one star for it having TOO many options, and because despite what Line 6 likes to say, digital does not sound nearly as good as analog and tube. If it's going to err on either side of "just enough options," I prefer too much. If you've got lots of experience with a wide variety of amps and effects, you'll have a ball, but if your experience has been a solid-state amp and a distortion petal, prepare to drown.

But--I have no regrets with my purchase. It works, works well, and does what I need it to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best price for awesome product, January 31, 2010

Line 6 PODxt Live I've had one of these before but it got stolen, now I have it again its really nice. over 200 different amp types, distortions, flangers, phasers, overdrives, effects, mods, delays, and built in wah/volume pedal. The one thing I dont like about this multi effects is it has alot of space-like star trek noises that I will probably never use. but you can shape your sound however you want and the different overdrives are perfect for metal, blues, classic rock, ect. Wasn't impressed with the acoustic clean channels, would not recommend this product for that it seems line6 is known for their heavy sounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars POD XT Live RuleZ, July 26, 2007
This review is from: Line 6 PODxt Live (Electronics)
I purchased this machine some weeks ago and all I can say this is just AMAZING, a full guitar rig in a box, I'm getting now perfect tones with all the amp simulations, the stomp boxes and all extra weapons this tank offers. Now my live performances are easier than before, I have all the control under my feet, change from a bank to other smoothly, modulate effects, add delay, wah... excellent!

There are a lot of companies making this type of unit these days. I haven't tried all of them and I'm sure some of them are very good, too, but this is the one to get and I'll tell you why. First of all, ease of use. Some of these things take a degree in COBOL programming to operate, but this one is very easy, very intuitive, and here's the kicker - it has a very good manual that is written by guitar geeks in PLAIN ENGLISH. The last unit I owned had a manual that was just outright shameful. It was surely written in Chinese and then translated (poorly) to English. Not cool. I say guitar geeks in a positive way. They talk very casually and very reverently about the gear they are modelling and it's very cool to hear it described this way rather than strictly in techical terms. The best way to operate a POD is to connect to your PC via USB cable. You then see the interface on screen in a simple layout where everything you want to tweak is right at your fingertips. No more scrolling thru tiny onboard menus. Plus you get free software that allows you to hook to their website and automatically download upgrades to the software and the content. Every once in a while you'll get new amp models that'll just show up in your choices because they come across while you're doing an upgrade. And the manual is constantly changing as they upgrade and add new stuff. All you need to do is download the new manual and keep it on your PC. And there's also a database of sounds that are submitted by users. I'm sure some of the other manufacturers have similar functionality to what I'm describing, but again, it's the ease of use that makes it so great. For $400, you've got thousands of dollars worth of stomp effects alone and if you're space is limited, like mine, it sure is nice to have it all in one compact box. Well worth a try. Oh, and their customer service is great, too. I would suggest getting it thru Sweetwater (same price, same free shipping, and better customer service) at this time though, because Amazon has taken a stance that it's OK to sell publications that promote and advertise animal fighting. They are even fighting for their right to do this in court. Not cool and not particularly smart in the middle of the Michael Vick debacle. I will not purchase from Amazon again until they change this policy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly versatile, August 17, 2010
This review is from: Line 6 PODxt Live (Electronics)
This is amazing piece of equipment. Not too difficult to carry around and not too heavy either. The effects are very good for being digital. For those that play metal I really recommend you buy the metal pack that line 6 sells on their website since it's got some of the best metal tones I've ever heard even taking analog pedals into account.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 years later and I still love this thing, March 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Line 6 PODxt Live (Electronics)
I bought this 3 years ago when I was just getting into electric guitar after years of playing acoustic. All I can say is that its one of the best investments any guitarist can make.

Once you learn the ins and outs of the unit its pretty straight forward. Furthermore its very easy to get a good usable tone out of this thing. Sure, its not a tube amp and it never will be but dont let that take away from your enjoyment because it sounds marvelous.

It comes with a ton of amp models but truth be told I only find a handful useful. I basically only use the SLO, Plexi and Blackface models to create my patches.....the rest are just...meh

Being the fickle guitarist that I am with loads of GAS....I have upgraded to the ELEVEN RACK. Even so, I still use the podxt live regularly since its so user friendly.

Did I mention this thing is a tank!!? It will last forever.
