Good but buy the one with red if you can find it.,
This review is from: Line 6 POD Studio GX (Electronics)
This is a good unit. But it is the same as the Gx that has red on the front with is the older model. The hardware is the same this just has updated software podfarm. The rub is podfarm is a free download from the line 6 site. and the older version is $49 not $99. So search the net and see if you can find the older version. It's the same hardware and download the software for free from the line 6 site. And save your self $50.
Hardware wise it's great it's great and works perfect with All the amplitube products and Guitar Rig 3. I have them installed and use them and it works fine with no latency. on quirky think is you have to plug a cord form the unit's headphone out to your laptop or computer mic input to get speakers to get sound and i've only figured out that way of using external speakers. i've yet to figure out how to just use the actual speakers that are attached to my laptop instead which would be cool.

A great product and a great value,

I have owned this product for over six months now and I use it nearly every day. It has never given me a problem, and does indeed provide an very-low latency interface as described. The accompanying POD Farm software is easy to use, and provides high quality tones suitable for recording. Don't let the program's presets discourage you, most of them are lousy. But with a little tweaking and/or some research online, you will be quite satisfied.
I purchased the GX model because it was the simplest and cheapest model available. I have not been disappointed, nor have I wished it had additional features.

This little beast is so good I have'nt used my amp since. The presets are great you can play along to your favorite songs modeling the same amps and effects the original artists used.It comes with recording software(abelton live)and riffworks. The pod farm has all the amps and stomp boxes you need to have fun.
Musician's Friend had the best price plus I got another $30.00 off that by signing up for the Amazon.com credit card. This unit was worth every penny it cost.

Background: I'm primarily a bass player who dabbles in guitar. I wanted a small footprint interface that would allow me to record my songs to the PC easily. The PodGX delivers. After a bit of a hassle of drivers installation, software updates, and license setup, I was ready to roll. Pod Farm software is awesome, very intuitive to use (I used to have a PodXT, this is much easier to use). Looking at your signal path drawn and the amp/FX panels really makes it easier, though in abstract it's the same controls you used to have in Line6 Edit. And the dual tone feature is completely awesome. Works perfectly as a VST plugin in Reaper. No latency issues at all. Some popping here and there that was fixed by adjusting the buffer (this usually happens because the computer is trying to work at a lower latency than it actually can peform). And it isn't like I have an awesome computer, it's a 5-year-old Core2 Duo. GREAT for recording guitar. I have a really crappy guitar (seriously, if you look inside the control cavity, you can see it's made of sandwichboard! xD) and the included amps/FX really bring it to life. Now, the bad: - I found that the bass amp models sound kinda dull and dead. Not like they did when I used the Bass PodXT. I find myself doing non-obvious things like running dual tones with guitar amps or preamps to generate the punch and top end the bass models are missing. You *can* get good bass tone out of this thing, but not as effortlessly as with guitar. It takes some time and dedication to experiments to generate that killer bass tone. - No flanger, no autowha, and no other things that I felt essential. You gotta buy upgrade packs if you want them inside Pod Farm (or, like I did, use another VST plugin for them). Not funny. Still, no autowha? Come on! - It's just emulation after all. It's close enough, but not quite, particularly if you have some real good gear to compare it with. Bottom line: For the guy who wants to record stuff one track at a time, and with good, easy to use tone, it's great. For a more demanding recording pro, it might fall short of desired performance. Me, I'm in love with this little box. Best 90 bucks spent in music gear in a looong time.

POD Studio GX is what I call an excellent product. It works perfectly with Pod Farm 2.5 and also with similar programs like Amplitube and Guitar Rig. Easy installation, zero latency, perfect sound. What else could I ask? The box includes a CD with Line Monkey software and Pod Farm 1.0 which can be updated to version 2.5 using Line Monkey in a very easy process even for a non-tech guy like me. The CD does not contain a user manual and this is good: you can download the manual from [..] web site and in that way a number of trees can continue living. Congratulations to Line 6!

i've been eying this product for years, and was just able to get it this month. best buy ever. i dont notice any latency, very easy to operate!! just insert the pod farm disk, then it will install the pod farm and the driver for the pod studio gx together with the line 6 monkey. i dont know what other people do why they seem to have difficulties setting up this device. once cd installation is completed, you're ready to go, then just update pod farm, pod gx driver via monkey or get the free trial of the pod farm 2! this beauty is compatible with amplitube! i use reaper for DAW and Audacity and it works perfectly! you can even record vocals with it, just use a dynamic mic and the pod farm's vocal preamps!i recommend this product to beginners and musicians on budget like me!

While it's not the "Professional Quality" studio with "Legendary" tone it's advertised as, this thing is great to play and record with without the need to mic large amps or use pedals directly into the soundcard. Sound quality is impressive and latency is virtually non-existant. The software comes with decent sounding effects, however most of the presets require buying separate virtual effect pedals or amps. My only real complaint is that the software will not run without the device connected. This include as a VST plugin. This means if you record your clean signal so the effect can be adjusted and tweaked as needed after recording (the biggest advantage to using virtual effects) then you cannot play it back later without the GX connected to the computer. So if this is a problem for you, consider also buying a separate VST effects package such as Guitar Rig or Amplitube as well.

I won't talk about the intricacies of this Line 6 as I'm an inexperienced guitarist. In short, it works as advertised and for all it does it's a good buy.
An unadvertised benefit of this is it can replace your existing sound card. I've been using it non stop. My laptop has a problem with the line out connector where the audio doesn't always send out a stereo signal. I was always having to wiggle it to keep it from being mono. I bought connectors that helped some, but nothing worked until now. Just plug it in, connect your headphones to the Line 6, and set the speaker to Line 6 if it isn't already. Consider that any decent USB sound card costs at least half this price. With the addition of connecting your guitar up and playing with effects or recording it's hard not to pass it up. It's small, runs cool, can attach to a guitar strap and has the volume control right there within reach.

Played the TonePort UX series, was sub-par when compared to the GX. PodFarm is ten-times better than Gearbox. The actual unit itself is tiny, able to clip on to your guitar strap. What you see is what you get, this thing is bare-bones. Don't listen to what other people say about the tones and how you have to pretty much buy a ton of them, because you don't. The included models, tones, etc are more than enough, but you always have the (cheap) option to get more. Riffworks is a neat software as well. If you are a starving guitarist or just interested in your own personal "studio," go GX, man.
