5.0 out of 5 stars Page turning suspense!, April 14, 2000
This review is from: Line of Duty (Paperback)
When the call came to Lt. Colonel Brenna Duggan about a death in her command she never expected her life to spiral out of control. A mysterious death determined to be not in the line of duty. After determining the course of action to take, Brenna informs the family and closes the case. Or so she thought.

When the widow of the dead airman presses further to prove her husband died in the line of duty, Brenna helps the widow, never realizing she would put her own life in jeapordy.

Ex-military pilot Dave Sanderson is drawn to Brenna as he has been no other woman, but she is getting closer and closer to the truth. Truth he must cover up.

If you're a lover of military romantic suspense and intrigue, Line of Duty is for you. Merline Lovelace will keep the reader on the edge of their chair, turning the pages wanting more. Highly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad!, March 3, 2002
By
This review is from: Line of Duty (Paperback)
This was a first for me with this author. I was attracted to the military part of it. It's a decent story/mystery/romance. The heroine is a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. Her devotion to duty and principle was a tribute to women in command. She gambles all for a guy who is not your typical military hero and lets her judgement and heart be her guide. She is not compromised. Nice read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the usual formula romance!, July 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Line of Duty (Paperback)
In Line of Duty, Merline Lovelace, makes her characters real. Each person, from the heroine and hero to those with smaller roles, come to life. Brenna's conflict are those faced by people everyday. It is easy to place yourself in her shoes. The action, oh the action, jumps right at you. From the phone call in the dark of night until you turn the last page, the book sizzles. This is not the usual formula romance!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Different Romance...Military Suspense/Action/Drama, August 13, 2003
This review is from: Line of Duty (Paperback)
This one had me guessing and sometimes wondering about the 'good guys' in the story. Nothing is as it seems, as in real life and Ms. Lovelace hit it on the nose in this tale about military coverup, power, secrets and steamy romance.
I was impressed with her military know-how seeing she served 23 years in the Air Force as an officer made the story that much more realistic. This one reminded me of a John Grisham novel with steamy romance added to the mix.
She's a sexy and beautiful Lt. Colonel who commands the 552 Air Control Wing out of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahama. Brenna Duggan is a career officer and her record is as clean as a whistle. She does everything by the book and is highly respected throughout the ranks. So what could shake her judgement in the military? The night her phone rings and she gets a strange call about an airman in her squadron who was found dead in a Panama bar, but was not in the line of duty.
She begins having serious doubts about the death; too many questions about why the handsome and cocky ex-military pilot Dave Sanderson is linked to the death.
Bringing up too many unanswered questions, she is ordered to drop it, but she is even further baffled when she senses the military is trying to cover something up. Putting her entire career on the line, Brenna steps into the dangerous limelight digging for clues. Everything becomes awash in gray in her once black and white world.
Nothing makes sense. Nothing adds up.
Her dangerous attraction to the loose cannon pilot that seems in deep in this mess is not helping matters. She could lose her heart, career and her life.
The suspense keeps you going throughout the book and was very accurate with details of military life(military brat here for 24 years-also military spouse for 6)I was truly impressed with this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a suspensful read with some truly noteable romance(well done Ms. Lovelace, whew :) )
