An adjustable strain relief clamp protects the cord (not included) from damage caused by pulling or stretching. This foot switch is certified by the Canadian Standard Association (CSA), meets United States Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards for quality assurance, and has an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 20 for protection against small amounts of dripping water and access with a finger. Foot switches are used to turn on and off electrical devices and may also provide control over the device's speed and mode of operation. They come with up to three pedals and can have a maintained, momentary, variable, or anti-trip switch action. For maintained action switches, one press of the pedal controls the power, whereas momentary action switches require constant pressure on the pedal for power. Variable action switches (also called foot potentiometers) function similarly to momentary action switches, but also provide control over the connected device's operating speed. Anti-trip action switches require users to release a safety latch before pressing down for momentary action. Foot switches vary in their contact specifications, amp ratings, plugs and receptacles, and material construction to suit different applications, device amperages, plug configurations, and environments. Foot switches are commonly used with power tools, sewing machines, musical instruments, dental equipment, and lighting, and in the construction, laboratory, production, and medical fields, among others.

Linemaster Switch Company manufactures electromechanical, pneumatic, digital, linear Hall effect, and wireless foot switches for use in the industrial, medical, computer, and musical fields, among others. The company, founded in1952, is headquartered in Woodstock, Connecticut, and meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 2001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 standards.

I was looking for a heavy duty foot switch to use with my transceiver. The ones I've owned previously worked okay but tended to move around the floor. They were also smaller, so harder to find under the desk without looking. This switch overcomes all those shortcomings. With the solid build quality, I expect it to be the last one I ever need to buy.

I am a Ham Radio Operator an many of us use a foot switch for PTT (Push To Talk). This is one "Heavy Duty" switch, built like a tank! However, it requires more effort than I am use to so I had to take it apart an cut some of the return spring off. This made it much better. One thing for sure, I will never wear this one out!

I am very impressed by the build quality of the switch and I love it's heft & weight. The anti-skid pad on the bottom of the pedal works like a champ on my smooth, garage floor. I definitely recommend this switch.

Quick Rant...I will never understand, why it is so challenging for companies to include the proper wiring installation instructions for products!!! With that said, I hope the following information will help anyone who has already bought or considering buying, this fantastic foot switch.

Please note: As a reminder, the design of this foot switch is to close the electrical circuit when the foot switch is stepped on, thus giving power from the wall outlet to the power tool.

Important: If you are reading this and you are going to follow these steps, please do so at your own risk. You are an adult and should be responsible for your own actions and you should also have the intelligence, without needing a warning label to tell you, that taking a hair dryer that is plugged into a wall outlet, into the shower with you, will result in electrocution and possible death. Play with electricity at your own risk and health.

Steps for Wiring:
1) No wire is included with this switch. You will need to purchase a power cord and hard wire it in. I personally chose a 15ft (16ga) black extension cord from Home Depot.
2) You will need to cut the wire. Being that my wire was 15ft in length, I opted to cut the wire so that I had 12 feet of length that would plug into a wall outlet and the remaining 3 feet of wire was used as the receptacle pig tail in which my tool would plug into. You can vary the lengths based on your needs.
3) From the cut end of each of the two sections of wire, strip off approximately 4 inches of the outer protective jacket.

This is a real foot switch. Not a plastic one that you have to be overly careful with when using. Excellent Product Fast Delivery. You can't ask for more than that.

After many years of using the conventional switch on my table saw I took a chance with the foot pedal and I must say it works like a charm. This switch is built to last. It's heavy and works great. You have to get used to it being on the floor and it goes on with a very light touch, but it certainly is a lot safer than having to reach down to reach for the conventional switch. One complaint is the lack of good wiring instructions. I contacted customer support and they emailed me the wiring instructions within two day. Wiring is fairly simple and does not require any soldering. I wired it extra long, so when I cut sheet goods I can pull the switch away from the saw so I can reach it easily when I get ready to start the cut. Very convenient.

My father gave me a Clipper 632-S foot switch, which I use with some of my power tools. What I have is different than what's offered here. My unit came wired from my father with a heavy gauge cord and a plug. I like the heavy weight of the pedal. It has an industrial feel to it. I like the effort that's needed to depress the switch, if you have heavy shoes this insures that you can feel it without accidentally turning it on. The weigh also keeps it from being kicked around.

I use this with my Porter Cable 690LRVS Router, which has a switch in an inconvenient location. I also use this with my Gyros rotary tool.

Received this foot switch. It's all hooked up to my "tankless" air compressor for running small air tools. This switch is built like a tank. It should last forever. One thing I didn't notice when ordering it, it is a "deadman's switch" not an click on, click off. You hold it down with your foot for ON and it goes to off as soon as you remove your foot. For my need this actually turned out to be good.

I'm a ham radio operator and previously used a hand switch to operate some equipment. I changed over to the Linemaster on recommendation of friends. This is a first rate industrial quality switch that should last for many years. However, it does require that you wire a cable to the switch. If you can't or don't want to do this then get something else.
