Product Description

This all-purpose Linemaster foot switch has a reinforced polymeric pedal, a 6' power cord, and a single two-prong outlet for connecting with lights and other electric devices. The 4 amp 125V foot switch allows users to step on the switch's pedal for hands-free on-and-off power. It has maintained operation for press-and-release power activation and termination. The foot switch has a reinforced polymeric body that resists corrosion and rust, and comes with a non-glare finish. Raised ribs on the pedal's surface provide traction, while the non-skip base gives the foot switch stability to prevent sliding on hard floors. Under the foot switch's cover, an integrated adjustable strain relief clamp helps to hold the 6' stranded parallel thermoplastic (SPT) type 2 cord in place. A two-prong plug at the end of the cord connects to electrical outlet, while a two-prong outlet located on the plug's side is provided with a 500W capacity for connecting with the two-prong plugs of the lights or devices to be powered. The foot switch meets Canadian and United States Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards for quality assurance. Intended for light-duty applications, the foot switch provides access to hard-to-reach outlets and switches.

Foot switches are used to turn on and off electrical devices and may also provide control over the device's speed and mode of operation. They come with up to three pedals and can have a maintained, momentary, variable, or anti-trip switch action. For maintained action switches, one press of the pedal controls the power, whereas momentary action switches require constant pressure on the pedal for power. Variable action switches (also called foot potentiometers) function similarly to momentary action switches, but also provide control over the connected device's operating speed. Anti-trip action switches require users to release a safety latch before pressing down for momentary action. Foot switches vary in their contact specifications, amp ratings, plugs and receptacles, and material construction to suit different applications, device amperages, plug configurations, and environments. Foot switches are commonly used with power tools, sewing machines, musical instruments, dental equipment, and lighting, and in the construction, laboratory, production, and medical fields, among others.

Linemaster Switch Company manufactures electromechanical, pneumatic, digital, linear Hall effect, and wireless foot switches for use in the industrial, medical, computer, and musical fields, among others. The company, founded in1952, is headquartered in Woodstock, Connecticut, and meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 2001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 standards.

I can't get excited here. The footswitch is well built. Purpose is to be a footswitch for your X mas trees or other under 1500 watt device.
The description is a little misleading .. it is NOT a variable resistor speed control switch as mentioned in writeup. It is a simple on off switch. Pricing is competitive. The paddle portion is large and wide enough to be easily depressed. As with all switching devices please be fire safe and do not cover it.

We had our Christmas tree in a spot in between outlets and had to plug the lights into an outlet behind the couch. We had to purchase an extension cord to run behind the couch and plug this into but it was worth it. It is really nice being able to just tap your foot on the switch to turn off the lights- no more contorting in weird ways to find the outlet to unplug them! The only reason I knocked off one star is I don't understand why they didn't make this so that you didn't have to plug the lights in at the back of where this plugs into the outlet. They should have made it more like an extension cord with a pedal at the end. Still worth the purchase though and if you have small children like me you will need to hide the pedal from them...

I bought this for switching the Christmas tree lights on and off. It works exactly as I hoped. The switch can be positioned away from the outlet and tree. Rather than reaching behind the tree to unplug the lights at the end of the day, I only need to tap the switch with my foot. The switch is fairly lightweight and takes very little pressure to activate. I have it on a tile floor and it slides around easily but that isn't any problem for me.

The "Linmaster All-purpose foot switch" is a product you can rely on for convenient . I wished it came with a "3 prong plug". We did have a three prong adaper available and were able to get the product to work with the 6-outlet power strip for the Christmas tree.
I would highly recommend this product and hope in the near future the company will add a "3 prong plug".

We remodeled our family room earlier this year and, as a result, moved our Christmas tree to a new location. I like that it is more prominent, but the plug is more difficult to get to. Since we get a live tree every year, not only is it inconvenient to plug/unplug it, it rains needles on your head when crawling on the floor underneath it. One evening recently, I was dressed to go out to a Christmas party in black pants and sparkly top. Upon having to get down on the floor (not good with black pants) and then getting my hair caught in the branches, I decided there had to be a better solution. My husband ordered this from Amazon and it arrived in a couple of days. I couldn't be more pleased ! No more crawling on the floor, no more raining fir needles, no more hair catching. Easy to install (just plug it in) and you can press the pedal with your foot without bending over. Consistently works on the first try. A couple of friends came over for lunch and I turned the tree on while they were here. Both commented on what a clever little device this is and discussed purchasing it for themselves.

Works exactly as I had hoped and sturdy.

Works great! Before I purchased this foot switch, turning the Christmas tree lights, and the rotating base, was always a pain. Always had to search for the small switch attached to the extension cord, and then fumble around with the rocker switch to turn on or off. Now just tap with foot to turn on or off. Very easy and convenient. Very well constructed. Love it!

Just an fyi, this is an 'On'/'Off' switch, it is NOT a variable speed switch, so you wouldn't want to connect it to a sewing machine or router, for example, in order to control speed. That's not its' intended purpose.

Works great! The timer I'd used for years with my Christmas tree quit this year, and I picked up this switch on a gold box deal. I like the pedal - which toggles on and off the lights so easily. I am no longer crawling behind the tree to manually switch the lights on during the day - when entertaining. The pedal reaches over 3 feet away from the outlet - and lights plug directly into the back side of the wall plug - just like my old timer worked.
I'd recommend it...
