I'm seventy years old, very sound, love baseball history, enjoy the work od fine illustrators, and think Ogden Nash was great. How on earth could I not like this book. It is certainly far more than a child's book. This old little boy recommends it highly. Book is well made, great color and paper, good size illustrations. Enjoy!

I first remember reading Ogden Nash's Lineup for Yesterday in one of the Fireside Books of Baseball back in the late 1950s. I enjoyed it so much I memorized the entire lineup and still can quote the entire poem from memory. The illustrations in this book are great and this book is wonderful in introducing youngsters to both poetry and the greats of the game from long ago. In addition to a caricature drawing of each player there is also a short biography of each player as well. I'm glad this poem was brought back to life for newer fans to enjoy since the Fireside Books of Baseball are long out of print. Now we need someone to come up with an updated version for players of the past 50 years. We can start with A is for Aaron.

I got this book for my father who was always an avid lover of baseball. Now as a much older man with declining health he has become much harder to shop for. As soon as I saw this I knew it would be a perfect gift. He loves seeing the illustrations of players he soon remembers as he reads the facts, and he actually laughs as he reads the little anecdotes on each page. I myself enjoyed it before giving it to him, finding it funny and entertaining. It would make a nice coffee table book for any baseball lover.

I ordered this book for my son who is a year old. Although he may not understand or get who the people in the book are the rhyming makes it fun to read. My husband a huge baseball fan also loves the book. We feel this a book we can read for many years

This is a great book. We bought this for my wife's dad and not only did he love it but all the grandkids love it. The pictures are great and the idea with the alphabet is wonderful. It is nice that it is "yesterday"'s baseball heroes. Great look at the game and where it all started and where it all came from.
