Even non Damone fans will go for "Linger Awhile", September 21, 1999

I have the origional LP of "Linger Awhile," and it's a very nice album, Damone swings choice standrds in a gentle fashion, probably one of Damone's best PL's. I am not one who cares much for "middle of the road pop" vocal albums, but this record has more of a jazz tinged flavor, it's not you're run of the mill muzak. Damone is backed by a jazzy and swingin' rhythm section, which is actually quite intimate. Recommended.

IF YOU WERE TO GET ONLY ONE DAMONE CD, THIS IS THE ONE..., November 9, 2008
This review is from: Linger Awhile With / My Baby Loves to Swing (Audio CD)
... because previous Damone recordings suffered from "Buddy Greco disorder" - way too over the top, way too much vibrato, and a misguided approach to singing the standards that was laughably operatic (in other words, way too Italian). For these two recordings, they managed to get Vic to focus on the proper delivery of the songs, tone down the temptation to show off vocally and keep things swingin' with terrific song choices.
