4.0 out of 5 stars Old school industrial with a sense of humor.
This was several years ago that I was completely devoted to the industrial sound of Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. Sounds I still like today, but at that time they lacked one thing: a sense of humor.

2.0 out of 5 stars please don't give up on them
I hate to give anything a bad review, but for this CD I will. RevCo is one of my favorite bands, because I am a diehard Ministry fan. You must understand however, that this is not Ministry, and if that is what you are expecting, you would be well advised to look at something else. Actually, if you are looking for real RevCo, try another one of their CD's like...

This was several years ago that I was completely devoted to the industrial sound of Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. Sounds I still like today, but at that time they lacked one thing: a sense of humor.

Enter the Revolting Cocks. Made up of who knows who out of Ministry and other related bands, the Revolting Cocks said to hell with it and released this album. Who said the music of noise always needed to sound so depressing?

Gila Copter - Nice song with a beat you can dance to. Later I found out it was Tim Leary (that now dead hipster) grooving to that crazy beat.

Mr. Lucky - "Hey, baby, didn't I see you at the Sizzler last night?" That's smooth. What else can you say?

Crackin' Up - If you were lucky you might have seen the video for this played on MTV when they didn't know what they were doing. Fun song about rampant drug use.

Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? - Everybody likes this song. I don't know why. It's a universal constant.

The Rockabye - "Get your filthy hands off my ice cream." I've got strong memories about this song, but all you need to know is it's a grinding song sure to smooth out your blues.

Linger Ficken' Good - The ulimate in vanity songs. A bitter member of the band points out all the other members faults to the tune of a porn lovin' backbeat. I've got to dig this album out and listen to this song all over again.

Hardcore industrial as good as it gets. Guest star acid guru Timothy Leary hiself on one track, a band theme song, always good, "Linger Fickin' Good." A cover, of course way better than the original..."Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." Much like Revco more than Ministry, it's a bit looser and a bit more fun. If anyone has any info. on the Grandpa Jourgenson side project "Buck Satan & the 666 Shooters give me a holler!

5.0 out of 5 stars Industiral Supergroup Hits Hard ! ! !, June 8, 2002
This review is from: Linger Ficken' Good...And Other Barnyard Oddities (Audio CD)
Another release from the industrail mettallists the Revolting Cocks. Made up of members of Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and many other bands, the Revolting Cocks are some of the best musicians of the techno metal movement. The songs are well written and at a lot of points funny. Not only do they know how to play their instruments, they can write a pretty [messed] up track or two. "Creep" is my favorite song on the album, it just rocks out hard and has one [heck] of a beat. "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" is a really messed up cover of Rod Steward's classic. "Rockabye" is my second favorite song on the ablum, it is just full of memorable lyrics and great drumwork. This is a MUST HAVE for fans of the genre. I mean, the best of the best in a single band. It is just amazing.

Offensive to some, but the fun thing about this cd as well as the other RevCo stuff is that it's presented as a tossed off jokey affair. While the discs do contain humor, in title and lyrics, sonically and atmospherically, there is much attention to detail, musically. The musicianship on this disc is superb, especially the grating, distorted guitar work. As an aside, the front cover art features the track listing and running times of the songs, much like a promotional release would. Nice touch. Until this gets the proper rerelease treatment (w/ bonus tracks) seek out the Crackin' Up cd single as well, as it features Gila Copter 2 as an additional track, with a completely different stream-of-consciousness lyric by Dr. Timothy Leary. Out there...way, way out there. Recommended!!

This CD is worth the price for the cover of "Do ya think I'm sexy?" I first heard that song back in the mid-90s on Houston's 104 KRBE (a POP station, fer cryin out loud) and I busted out laughin! Ten years later or so, and I'm still busting out laughin! I like RevCo mainly because of the humor--it's like a ministry album where everything is sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek, not just the album titles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different From Ministry, But Still Just As Great!!!, August 9, 2000

Revolting Cocks, brainchild of Ministry's Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker, is great bass grooves and creative industrial layers and vocals to get catchy, heavy tunes that also include Timothy Leary on the first track as guest vocals. This music somewhat seems as a parody to their own Ministry music, including interesting skit-samples and the last track which introduces each band member in their own weird way. If you're a huge Ministry fan, you'll need to keep an open mind to this material but after a couple of listens it'll stick to you like mad!! Definately deserves a listen!

On separate occasions, I killed a set of speakers with this CD, and managed to clear out a party of "normals" in under 5 minutes.

There really are only two kinds of people: those who live to do that sort of thing (so buy this one), others would never ever (your search continues).

GILA COPTER (this song kinda feels like it's belongs on the apcalypse now soundtrack, it's really good) CREEP (i just love the bass on this song). MR.LUCKY (what's not to like? the heavy guitar, the horns! it kicks a$$! first best song on the album) CRACKIN' UP (a song about someone having an addiction to crack, the music video is pretty good, this song was the first single from the album) SERGIO (i have a xbox 360, and you can listen to music while playing a game, and i love listening to this while playing tony hawk) DA YA THINK I'M SEXY? (a rod stewart cover, pretty good cover, i have not seen the the video yet in all it's uncencored glory, some of the lyrics have been changed to more explicit lyrics, but not that much, this is the second and last single from the album) THE ROCKABYE (now this song sounds like the classic cocks right here, second best song on the album) BUTCHER FLOWER'S WOMAN (this one kinda sound like ministry, al jourgensen Takes the vocals on this track) DIRT (worse song on the album, but just because it's the worst does not mean its all bad) LINGER FICKEN' GOOD (so bad that it's good, only now i am getting to like this song and in time i'm pretty sure that i'll love it in one day) ALBUM COVER: 10/10. 5.0 out of 5 stars love it, October 30, 2009

if you like ministry or pigface, you will probably like the revolting cocks, composed of some of the best musicians from other awesome industrial rock bands. the lyrics describe the retarded world we live in and the people that make it that way. the truth about things is usually revolting and hilarious. these guys are crazy good. damn entertaining music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hangover music at it's best, June 12, 2001
By
Patrick Stott (Rolleston, Canterbury, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Linger Ficken' Good...And Other Barnyard Oddities (Audio CD)
This is an album to slip on the stereo on the morning after the night before. This is industrial easy listening music at it's best.

From the initial mellow beats of Gila Copter through to the choir of children at the end singing "It's a RevCo world", this album slides seamlessly through a number of musical styles. It has Alien Jourgensen's usual array of samples gathered from who knows where. Don't expect the relentless pounding of Ministry though. This album is more subtle than that. Instead of making music which beats you over the head, RevCo crawls inside your ears, disturbing whatever thoughts you might have at the time.

As much as I dislike to judge a band by a cover song, Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" is the standout track. A few lyrical liberties have been taken with the song, to make rockin' Rod's original intentions more clear.

Smooooth!
