Editorial Reviews

Review

  • "Maya Banks’ writing has always evoked an emotional response for me and SONGBIRD definitely had me hanging on to each and every word anxious to find out what happens between these memorable characters." Romance Junkies
  • "Stay with Me is a spectacular ménage. I love how the triad was already established at the beginning of the book, and readers are taken on a journey of the inner dealings and things that have to happen to make a relationship like this work. Consider Stay with Me joyfully recommended, because it made me laugh, cry, and blush. I loved it." Joyfully Reviewed
  • "Stay With Me is the best all around book I’ve read, with the sex steamy and the emotion deep. It has all the aspects I love about romance. Ms. Banks engages your mind, heart and body; definitely not a book to be missed." Fallen Angel Reviews

Overall, though, it logically wasn't that bad, I don't think.

After reading Sweet Temptation, I was so absolutely horrified, I thought I might never read another Maya Banks story again. So it was with great trepidation that I picked up Linger. However, I was pleased and relieved to find again the Maya I fell in love with when I first read Colters' Woman. In Linger I found 2 touching and emotional stories, menages within committed and caring relationships, and erotic scenes without any of the hard-core bdsm that disturbed me in Sweet Temptation. Once I started reading Linger, I couldn't stop, even to sleep. I read it in one sitting!

This book was just what I thought it would be, Maya Banks once again has written a great story. This book contained 2 stories and that just made it better. She never lets me down, I laugh, cry and truly enjoy every book she has written so far. I would reccomend this book and many of the others to anyone who wants to read a great book. Thank you Maya for all of the wonderful books you have wrote and I am glad to say that I have read and enjoyed, I look forward to all of the new books and hope that the Coulter Legacy will be in print soon, as I prefer books to kindle.

[Also available on my blog.]

This was not quite as good as I was hoping it would be.

My copy of this (as I know there are other versions) has two stories by Maya Banks.

First, Stay With Me. This one was better than the other by far. I liked how Catherine interacted with her husbands, and I liked seeing them try to work through their problems. The two men needed to fix things, as they had made several missteps in the marriage, and I think they did a pretty good job at making up for it by the end, assuming that they did keep up with what they'd started. I liked that Catherine was firm in her thoughts, that she loved them but wasn't going to back down. They all needed that.

This story gets a weak 3 stars on its own.

Second: Songbird. I was not as big a fan of this one, and I'm not even really sure why. It just didn't hold my attention as well for some reason, I guess. I felt bad for the three of them, I actually understood their feelings and felt for what they had gone through. The ending was very nice, and it did get a little bit exciting before the actual ending. It just felt slow, or something. Overall, though, it logically wasn't that bad, I don't think. It was probably just me. I might just not have connected with the characters as well as I could have. I don't know.

On it's own, this story gets a very weak 2.5 stars, maybe even 2.

There is a lot of sex in these stories. In the first one, I rather enjoyed it. In the second one, I mostly enjoyed it. The stories would have probably been just fine without all of the sex; I actually didn't even enjoy the sex very much; it didn't make me hot, and the in the second one, I found myself wanting it to be over already.

Both stories sucked. I have read must of Maya Banks books; I consider myself a fan. But this book was a great disappointment. It was torture finishing it. I hated both stories. Each story is about woman throwing pity parties. The sex scenes could have been better. The choice of conflicts and character development for each story was amateurish. This book had to have been written to satisfy a deadline while Banks had writer's block or something. I would not recommend reading it for free, let alone a purchase. Read anything else by Banks but skip this one.

Book was used but condition was just as described on Amazon. Delivery was two weeks faster than indicated when ordered. Did not realize when I ordered that it was two noveletts but both were a good read. First time reading Maya Banks considering other books of hers now.

Considering how much I like Maya Banks, I thought I would really enjoy this book from its' description. Of the two stories, the songbird one wasn't all that great. The other was okay - nothing like her recent works which I really like.
