This review is from: Lingering Embers (Paperback)
From the back cover: "Yvie, I can't believe I've found you at last. "
Four years ago, Yvie would have run straight into Josh Graham's arms. She'd been so sure of his love--so unprepared for betrayal. "Try to understand," he'd asked of her before returning to his wife and child.
Now Josh was more devastatingly attractive than ever. How was Yvie going to face the next month with him--and his son--planning the North American publicity for Josh's new book? She was falling apart already ....
The only way to avoid being consumed by the fire that still smoldered between them was to practice a little deception of her own, using her marriage!
My thoughts:
Unfortunately, my review isn't so solid because I kinda read it fast/skimmed it. Someone bought my copy and I had to read it as fast as I can so I won't be missing anything in case it actually was a good book. Initially I was turned off by the storyline - ugh, hero was married and had a kid?! Poor heroine. Of course there would be a good reason he left her but just the premise left a bad taste in my mouth. But after reading, I didn't think it was SO bad. SPOILERS: Supposedly, hero's wife was an alcoholic and sick and she did not want to divorce hero and used their son as a bargaining chip. So hero did not want to leave his son with a sick person like that and decided to sacrifice his love and life so he can protect his son. BUT when his wife passes away, he decides to search for the heroine and win her back. Of course, heroine doesn't make it easy for him since he did break her heart and other things =) So as I analyzed it, and as a first time mother, I'm like, bravo hero, bravo. I would do anything for my son. And you know what, if it was true love, there will be a way for the hero and heroine to hook up once again and they did! LOL. Of course I always enjoy it when there's a little game aka heroine pretends there are other guys vying for her, etc. I give this book a 3 ½ stars.
