3.0 out of 5 stars Good little translator, September 30, 2008

I found this to be a pretty good translator. You can fold the screen down to the keyboard which makes it very compact and easy to carry around. They keyboard is very detailed yet easy to figure out and use. I'm also happy with the translations and how easily you can switch between the various languages.

The reasons I knocked off two stars:
1) The sound quality for saying/pronouncing the words/phrases is horrible, barely better than nothing.
2) When you look up words, they supply just on translation for each word for the target foreign language, ignoring the fact that there are often more than one corresponding words.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well at least I can hit on people in other languages..., April 1, 2009
Oh, the great Lingo TT-5500 Eurotalk, your semi-shiny best friend on all of your travel adventures...if your are single that is. They say this product has over 10,000 phrases you would commonly use while traveling, but I never once found the use for, "What time do you get off work?" or "Are you married?" yet it didn't have something as important as "Where is the bus stop?". That alone gives this thing 2 stars, but to add insult to injury you cannot type in a sentence and it translate it, nooooo too advanced. So you want to translate a sign? Too bad. Instead you try typing in a word and go word for word, but then it gives you a sentence with that word in it, again too hard for Lingo to create something that is useful. And finally the voice that speaks to you so you can "pronounce" it correctly always has a British accent so you never quite get the accent correct of that language, that is if you could hear it over the distortion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Go to Europe without This, January 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Found this translator to be very helpful, especially when going into smaller villages where few people spoke English. Wouldn't think of doing Spain, France, and Italy without it. Good investment.
