Lingua Angelica is absolutely the most beautiful Latin Hymn CD that I have ever heard. They use only one or two voices in most of the songs and the singing is clear and lovely. I own and have listened to other Latin hymns and Gregorian chants but this is by far the best.
I prefer the single or dual voice more than a choir; the Latin songs seem superior to me in this way and they are also easier to understand. In addition, all the songs are done a cappella, that is, with no musical accompaniment; this makes the beauty and simplicity of the voices even more striking. This CD is great by itself or you could buy the accompanying song book with the words and music. This heavenly music is simply inspiring with excellent renditions of such classical pieces like Panis Angelicus, Adoro Te Devote, and the Salve Regina as well as parts of the Mass such as the Kyrie, the Gloria, and the Agnus Dei. Lingua Angelica, both the CD and the songbook, are used as part of a Latin teaching course. However, I think the CD is perfect on its own while the songbook is very useful if you want to learn to play and sing the songs yourself. The only negative is that the few Latin prayers at the end are recited by a woman with a heavy Southern accent which doesn't harmonize well with the Latin language. All in all, this is truly a magnificent collection of celestial songs that are a pleasure and a joy to listen to time and time again.

Bad pronunciation,

The songs are nice, but the pronunciation of the prayers at the end of the disc is really bad. The woman's southern accent is very thick and obstructs the proper pronunciation of the words.
