I've only read about half of the introduction, and the book is already becoming much more readable by me, an amateur linguist. The first third or so of the introduction was very technical, written I suppose to establish McWhorter's credentials. I am studying Spanish by book and by periodic immersion. I am looking forward to reading the remainder of this book.
