5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Stunner.
Descriping this CD in regular words is extremely difficult. Oystein is a person who passed the normal in new age music. I bought this CD 4 times alreday becasue each time a dear friend hears it, I feel obligated to give it to him/her. The first track, the door is open, really opens the door for an outstanding experience. When this CD gets down in your brain, you will feel...

3.0 out of 5 stars Uno momento---please...
This talented artist can bring feeling and composition to the fore-front but on this cd...well ( I hear, or I'm reminded of other artists). That's why my critique is 3 stars. The music is flawless---I just can't walk away saying, This is very original. The Windham Hill Piano SamplerII has a track, Children's Song,(not on this)one of the best pieces I've heard and why I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Outstanding Oystein Album!, March 29, 2005

Oystein Sevag is probably one of the most talented "New Age" artists of our time. He has the ability to combine elements of Jazz and tribal-like rhythms into his work, yet it's seamlessly blended into a relaxing/uplifting atmosphere of sound.

Link is very similar to Global House, but Global House is an album that builds on a theme. This album's songs stand alone. If you enjoyed Global House, then I would highly suggest adding this album to your collection. If you like this album, I would suggest that you also take a listen to Global House.

Also realize that the 30 second samples of the songs don't do the album justice. You need at least two minutes of any Oystein song to comprehend its complexity, simplicity, and beauty.

Every home should have one! Love makes the world go round on the wings of music... This cd was lost in transit from Washington DC to London, England. I was without it for several months until I found Amazon.com upon it's arrival I began to cry. My music library ranges from Classical to Hip Hop and yet I can still say my most pleasurable and mostly listened to CD is 'Link' by Oystein Savag... It's Magical... Thank you Mr. Savag and thank you God for the gift of his music.

4.0 out of 5 stars A classic new age title..., February 15, 2005
This review is from: Link (Audio CD)
This album has a blend of different ethno-culture music that is delicately rounded out by Oystein and Lakki in such a beautiful fashion that it should be a staple in every instrumental music lover's collection.
"There's a monk in my garden" boasts some of the tastiest sax line from Bendik Hofseth that i have ever heard. "Afrikan Flower" will sweep you away to a dreamy island paradise with it's smooth calypso influence. But my absolute favorite is "My Heart" Oystein's signature lush keyboard sound and Lakki's beautiful guitar is moving and heartfelt.

Oystein fans have to have this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique and rhythmic - a must have!, January 5, 2002

I don't normally write reviews, but this album has captured my heart. I originally heard portions of it on National Public Radio, and immediately had to search out who did it. I typically like modern jazz or new age music, but Oystein Sevag has created a quality that is altogether unique. Each piece is carefully crafted, often combining very compelling rhythmic beat with melody and harmony that takes you to another place. After playing the album over and over, I find overtones I had previously missed - a subtle Latin style or perhaps an ethereal background harmony. This is one album I can't get enough of.

Thank you, Øystein, for this amazing album. There are probably no recordings of music that have meant more to me than this fabulous album from 1993. It has been tremendously important to me for many years now, I bought on the day it first came out, and have rebought it several times since, as friends who borrowed it just could not get themselves to give it back. This is music you should immerse yourself in. I feel sorry for all the people in this world who have yet to enjoy, experience and learn from the music of Øystein Sevåg. If you belong in this group, please do yourself and everyone around you a big favor and place your order now. Seriously. I know every note on this album. There's nothing on Amazon.com I consider worthy of a better review, I think. I'm grateful in a very profound way. When I have the mental energy to write more eloquently exactly how this album has affected me, I will do that, and hopefully whoever is not yet convinced they should get themselves a copy of this album will understand why they need it. I'm a true music lover, and I have several hundred cd's in my collection, which ranges from Bob Marley to Johan Sebastian Bach to Orbital. I often complain that the cost of cd's is way too high. I could be right about that, but this cd is worth more than money itself. Buy five and save on shipping! No, I don't work for Øystein Sevåg, but I do feel I should give something back to him for what he's done for me. If you get yourself a copy of 'Link' because of this review, I've done him a favor. And I've done you a HUGE favor. Life is great. How lucky we were to get in!

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" for anyone's CD collection., January 18, 2009

No matter what your tastes in music are, you MUST buy this CD. I was introduce to Oystein Sevag's music through a Windham Hill Sampler. I decided to buy the CD, and can honestly say, it is one of the best all around CD's I've ever heard. Absolutely everyone will love this music. It appeals to all tastes. Buy this CD and I promise you will thank me for recommending it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection, September 7, 2000

There is clarity, freshness, and a feeling of vastness in Oystein Sevag's dazzling touch. He has the rare ability to create the texture of spatial silence behind his sounds that elevates his music to the level of panoramic art.

His wistful, joyous, haunting melodies lift the spirit to a place of ecstasy while diving deep into the soul with their magic. You can almost feel the presence of his heartbeat as his fingers dance across the keyboard. He pours his passion into sound paintings that are stunning and flawless and one can see his inner world as if through his own eyes.

"Miles Away" is filled with such longing that when he reaches the vamp you may feel tears in your eyes. "Trust your Wings" is exotic, succulent and rich with a spicy sax and undulating latin beat. It may not be possible to sit still during this song.

In "Dance of the Angels" his shimmering harp creates a feeling of a crystalline midnight world where gossamer angels dance in swirling, snowy spirals among the icy stars. The album's title song "Link" is sexy, saxxy and can stir up those suddenly hot for loving feelings. "Memory" is the ultimate jazz groove with levels of coolness that can knock you out as you hit the repeat button to do it again.

Sevag's passion for exquisite, deeply emotional music is most profoundly expressed in the achingly, breathtakingly gorgeous "My heart". We got the message. Ooh, yes!
