4.0 out of 5 stars Amiibo- Fun little guy, untill you feed it too much. November 29, 2014
Color Name:Link|Edition:Super Smash Bros.
My little Link amiibo was fun for the first couple of days. Playing with it in Super Smash Bros. was like playing with your little brother for the first time and teaching him the tips and tricks you have learned from your years of gaming experience. But this amiibo learned way too fast! After only a few battles with my friends, my Link amiibo leveled up to the max level of 50. During its transformation from infant know nothing to unstoppable force of sword swinging mayhem, it learned to perfect guard, catch almost every item thrown at it, and edge guard like a mofo!

While this is a cool peripheral and a nice bit of technology, it is no longer fun to fight against this monster that I have created. Even playing with my Smash veteran friends, we had great difficulty taking this figure player down. During free for all, it is pretty much impossible for this guy to lose.

In conclusion, for under $13 this is a great way to waste your time, especially when you don't have others to play with you locally. Just prepare to have that feeling that you're digging your own grave. My Link amiibo requires a worthy opponent. I must train another, to take on this champion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Falcon for President January 16, 2015
Color Name:Captain Falcon| Edition:Super Smash Bros.|Verified Purchase
I purchased this as a form of home security. After a series of break ins in my neighborhood, I was forced to look into various forms of protection for my home, and I believe this one is the best. I placed Captain Falcon behind my front door, ever watchful, and ever vigilant. Last Friday, I came home to a five dead thieves in my front yard. The coroner stated that it was if they had all been beaten to death with a large, fiery, blunt object.

Note: I leveled him up on Smash Brothers first. A level 1 Captain Falcon may not actually detect danger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amiibo Figures Are Here! Very Fun & Creative! November 22, 2014
By Brandon
Color Name:Link| Edition:Super Smash Bros.|Verified Purchase
Nintendo has really got something special with these Amiibo figures if you ask me. As a collectible this thing looks stunning, and the paint detail is very nice. As far as what it can do in games, it brings a lot to that table as well!

Wish Super Smash Bros for Wii U this Amiibo can be used in game for you to train (you can't control the Amiibo). You can use your Amiibo to help you in team battles and customize it's move set. Your Amiibo will also help you gather materials while it battles. What we do with our Amiibo figures is this: My son is on a team with his Mario Amiibo Vs My wife with her Peach Amiibo Vs Me with my Link Amiibo. We have had a blast playing those 6 person team battles and the Amiibo figures can be a big thanks to that.

Mario Kart 8, this Link Amiibo will unlock a Link costume for your Mii to race in.

Hyrule Warriors, this Link Amiibo will unlock a new weapon for Link (November 27th) in the game.

So for the price lets say $12.99, you get a nice collectible + a lot of fun multi game, in game content. I think it is well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mama-Mia! That's-a fine figure! November 25, 2014
Color Name:Mario| Edition:Super Smash Bros.|Verified Purchase
Given that these figures have at least two purposes, I'll strive to address both of those in this review.

First off, as a figure itself- I'm actually surprised at just how great Mario looks- he's in my top three for favorite Amiibo and he's easily near the top for build quality. There's no articulation, but these aren't those types of figures (and there's a pretty great Mario figure available now for not a whole lot more than this, if that's your sort of thing!)

Next, for the NFC portion- right now its uses are fairly limited, given that so few games are compatible with Amiibo. Because of this, I'll only be focusing on Smash Bros. Within that particular game, these are quite fun- it's essentially an NPC you can bring with you into Smash matches. You can change the costume, level it up through fights, and feed it items to boost its base stats. It learns and adapts to fight beside (or against) you, and it does this very, very well. However, you cannot "play as" your amiibo or use it in non-smash modes, likely since it would greatly unbalance the single player experience. While disappointing, it's understandable as this is supposed to be a game based on skill, not "how many items do I have to eat until I'm unbeatable?"

So, in summation- this isn't Skylanders or Disney Infinity. You don't need the Mario Amiibo to play as Mario, so for unlocking things he's not very useful. However, Amiibo can and WILL enhance your experience and bring more to the game than has ever been present in Smash before.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun way to enhance your game (without being REQUIRED.) November 25, 2014
Color Name:Samus| Edition:Super Smash Bros.|Verified Purchase
Given that these figures have at least two purposes, I'll strive to address both of those in this review.

First off, as a figure itself- Samus is probably my favorite that they've released so far. Mine looks crisp, clean, and exactly like you would expect a suit of cybernetic armor to look like when shrunk to miniature. There's no articulation, but for the price of these figures I don't know why you would expect it to do much moving. All in all, figure alone is worth the price paid.

Now, for the NFC portion- right now its uses are fairly limited, given that so few games are compatible with Amiibo. Because of this, I'll only be focusing on Smash Bros. Within that particular game, these are quite fun- it's essentially an NPC you can bring with you into Smash matches.
