Everywhere I read, this book was recommended. It is the Bible for this ride and I would recommend it to anyone. We carried it with us at all times. We used it for pre-planning, on the ride and after. My only recommendation would be for the authors to charge a little more so a website could be created where trail users can share their own recommendations.
In short, if you're going to go all 320 miles, you need this book. Don't leave home without it.

This is an excellent source of practical information for anyone planning to ride the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal towpath from Pittsburgh to Washington DC. It lists mileages, bike shops, accommodation and loads of other practical information. There are also suggestions on planning the trip and on how to break it down into shorter sections.

I'm planning a bicycle trip and there is very little written on the Great Allegany Passage. This booklet; check out the pages not very many, is full of great information on both the Passage and the C & O Canal trail.
I was skeptical about buying this guide. It looked amateurish and I was afraid it would be hokey and lame. IT IS THE OPPOSITE! I have read it cover to cover more than once and will tote it in my saddlebags on the trip this summer.

This is a solid resource for those planning to travel this outstanding trail. I've traveled several sections in preparation for going the full 300+ miles. Not hugely detailed but it does contain very practical information that will help in deciding if this kind of trip is for you.

This is a great little book full of options, locations, and the necessary info to do this trip. We are planning to do this ride with in a year, but needed good basic strategy. This book, a pamphlet really, makes all the connections you need to get going.
