Perfectly matched to the Linksys WRT1900AC router or another wireless router (sold separately), the Linksys WRT 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch expands your home network by offering eight Gigabit Ethernet ports for fast wired connections to laptops, wireless access points, IP cameras, and more.

Quality of Service (QoS) prioritizes network traffic for smooth streaming and online gaming. And to help you conserve energy, the SE4008 automatically enters into power-saving mode when connected devices are turned off or not in use.

The Perfect Complement to the WRT1900AC

While compatible with other routers, the SE4008 is designed to physically stack below the WRT1900AC router, this 8-Port Gigabit Switch expands your network while streamlining your WRT system.

(WRT1900AC router sold separately)

Eight Gigabit Ports Deliver the Fastest Wired Speeds

The switch comes equipped with eight Gigabit Ethernet ports that deliver speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps, or up to 10 times faster than traditional Fast Ethernet. A Quality of Service feature (QoS) lets you prioritize bandwidth for smooth media streaming.

Auto-Sensing Ports to Save on Electricity

To help you conserve energy and lower your electricity bill, the SE4008 automatically enters into power-saving mode when it detects that a connected device is turned off or a Gigabit port is not in use.

We have an Xfinity modem and Linksys wireless router. We have two computers with cables near the modem and router. We also have over a dozen wireless devices of all types throughout the house (treadmills. light bulbs, pads, smart phones, notebooks, garage door openers, etc, etc).

So far this switch did not noticeably speed up the two cabled computers. The switch may be useful for someone with a huge network of computers and printers. The switch supposedly makes printing faster for some networks. Again, I don't think that could possibly apply to my setup.

This is a plain old everyday unmanaged gigabit switch. Ignoring the QoS and Auto Sensing ports (which is marketing BS, the QoS is managed by the router) the only reason I bought it and would suggest it is if you have the WRT1900AC. Otherwise, this switch is bulky and expensive and you can do far better for the same or less money.

This may very well be my last purchase from Linksys/Belkin due to the false advertising surrounding the WRT1900AC. If you are interested in this switch, its cheaper on Linksys web-store at the time of writing this.

This is stackable; hooks up in a jif; fits right under the Linksys router; same snazzy color as the router. I think this is the only 8 port router option out there. The company said it wanted to make routers "cool." Well this looks cool and the capacity is cool so mission accomplished. :) You should hook it up so it is under the router for cooling reasons. It switches between fast and gigabit ethernet; it prioritizes games and media.
