Bought two of the refurbished Linksys by Cisco 5-Port Workgroup Switch. One of them worked and one didn't. Guess which one I installed first. I have had good luck with these in the past, but from now on...I'll spend the extra 8 or so bucks to buy a new one. As most of you know, when you need to replace a workgroup switch, you REALLY need it. I always keep a couple of them on the shelf. I'll use the refurbished one until it dies, but you can rest assured there will be 2 BRAND NEW ones on the shelf ready to go!

Excellent product, arrived on time, and in the condition promised. Anything made by linksys is great and reliable equipment, and at a price like this, doubly so.

The price paid was great. The least expensive solution to needing 5-6 connection. Has operated continuously right out of the box.

CAUTION - Really 4 ports,

Evidently this switch is not a true 5-port switch. While there are 6 RJ45 ports in the back of it, one of them is an "uplink" port, meaning this is where you connect to your internet or internet LAN, in order to distribute to the rest of the ports.
I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me, as a switch like this does not require (nor can you do a) configuration. Answer: I looked it up - when you have the "Uplink" port being used, you have to leave the port next to it open and unused for the rest of the ports to work properly. While some few devices can make their way to the internet with all 5 ports loaded + uplink port, most devices can not. Check for yourself: [...]

I decided to buy this switch because I've used a similar Linksys Ethernet switch for years and it has performed flawlessly all this time. I also use a Linksys WiFi router, and have been very satisfied with all of these products. The switch has worked flawlessly and immediately right out of the box. I daisy-chained this switch to another one and have not noticed any signal degradation or network slowdown. I use this switch to connect various media devices in my living room: HDTV, Blu-ray player and Windows Media Center PC. The video streaming on all of those devices has been very high quality and very smooth. The same hold for web surfing. The switch is also very small and compact, which comes in handy if you want to install it in a place where you already have to deal with cable and device clutter.
These have been my observations thus far. If I discover anything else about this switch in the upcoming days and months, I'll update this review.

I use this as a splitter and it works perfect. No signal degradation that I've noticed. I use one line in and four lines out. The lines out go to a Roku, Blu-Ray player, Xbox 360 and a Wii. I haven't ran them all at the same time of course, but who would? :)

I bought this switch as I needed another switch for access in another room. One thing you want to remember which is true with just about all switches-- the port immediately next to the input is not a port that you're going to want to use as you won't be able to get a signal out of it. That being said, its highly reliable, it doesn't drop off at all-- though I wouldn't recommend it if you're in need of multiple ports I mainly use this in my bedroom where there's just one of my Xbox 360s and a DVR that need internet connection.

This is exactly what we were looking for, and at a GREAT price. We are using this to extend out wireless network into a hutch holding our Blu Ray DVD and DirecTV receiver. While the wireless network works great around the house, it is weak and probably gets interference in the entertainment center. Anyways, I just connected a CAT5 cable I already had run into the entertainment center, connected to the uplink port, then finally connected the DVD player and DirecTV receiver into ports 1 + 2 respectively. Works like a champ. If you look at the back, there is a line connecting the uplink port to the adjecent port - thus giving the impression that the uplink is tied to both. As noted in earlier reviews, this is true. If you stick to the other ports, you will be fine. Again, exactly w=hat we were looking for and at a SUPER price!
