Works great on my 4-yr-old Sony Vaio running XP Pro with Service Pack 3. No problems at all maintaining connectivity, and the signal strength is great even though the wireless router is upstairs. Our ceilings are very well insulated for sound, but this doesn't affect the signal strength at all. I also like the fact that if I decide to retire my old Sony computer, I can use this adapter with a new computer.

I bought this for an old Desktop PC that has been used as a standalone for almost three years. As indicated in the description/price this is a refurbished adapter. The hardware itself looks brand new, with original packaging in pristine condition. I gave the product 4 stars because I had software issues. The adapter monitor software kept giving error messages and shutting down, never staying up long enough to find the wireless network. I finally uninstalled the software, copied the drivers to my hard drive and manually directed the new hardware wizard to the drivers (otherwise the wizard will reinstall the entire monitor software). I had to reboot to reset the Wireless Zero Configuration (wzc) on my PC, and Voila! the adapter found the wireless network right away. The wireless router is upstairs on the extreme west side of the house. The PC sits in the basement on the east wall. There is an enclosed stair case (two solid walls) and a loaded entertainment center full of electronics in directl line of sight. The connection is a steady "Very Good" all the time. I'm pleasd with this product and the money I saved buying a refurbished adapter.

I bought this a week ago. Great value for your money. Works on XP and Vista. DOES NOT WORK ON Windows 7. Unfortunately, my main desktop I need this for runs Windows 7. I really hope Linksys releases drivers for it.

I received the Linksys WUSB300N-RM Wireless N USB from Amazon (Deal Barn) just a couple of days after I ordered it. Despite being refurbished, it looks brand new.I tried installing the drivers from the enclosed CD, but after installing/uninstalling 10 times, it still wouldn't locate my home wireless network. After much experimentation, I discovered an alternate method that works. See below. My desktop computer (an old Dell 4400 desktop) with USB 1.0, receives a signal strength of "low" in my guest bedroom which is 3 rooms away and down the hall from my wireless-N router. But, I have full use of email and it pulls up websites faster than I would have expected. Overall, I'm happy. The installation took a lot longer than I would have liked, though. Bottom line, it's a good deal for the price. Don't use the CD installation method!! Follow these instructions instead: 1. Insert USB Cable for Linksys WUSB300-N Wireless Adapter 2. When "New Hardware Found" bubble appears, click on it 3. Insert Linksys WUSB300-N installation CD 4. Allow Windows to search for driver (on CD) 5. Windows will find the driver on the CD & install it 6. Follow on-screen instructions 7. Available Wireless Networks should appear 8. Select desired wireless network 9. Enter security code

I was having problems getting this item to work on Vista but someone mentioned how the software that comes with the item is OUTDATED and you need to find the most current driver. DO IT. It was difficult for me to find because the link provided in another comment wasn't working but do some searching. After that, it's amazing.

I am not slamming the product or the dealer here... I am pretty sure this is an isolated case. I bought this as a refurbished product and I guess it was a bad one. Only after three weeks of everything running fine, it decided to start disconnecting from the network totally. To make a long story short, it took a while to figure out what exactly could be causing the issue. I was really hoping it was not this adapter because when it worked, it worked great! I can only hope that the next one I get lasts a while. These things seem very pricey bought new. I don't think anyone should have to pay more for their adapter than their router..LOL :)

Works exactly like the Linksys description. Plugged it in and it found my net and 2 others in the neighborhood. Easy to see when both lights are on show good signal strength. Put the Wireless Receiver in my garage on a computer out there. Bought a 2nd unit for guest when they come to stay with us.

I have to say that this was one of the easiest installs and with no conflicts. I purchased this as an inexpensive way to add another computer with defective WIFI card to my existing Netgear router. Has worked flawless now for about a month. I highly recommend. WIN/XPMark

I got this for only $20 refurbished so its AMAZING for the price.Ive had it for about a year and a half and the only problem i had is when windows 7 first came out, they didnt have drivers. They do now so it works fine with windows 7 64 bit. I dont even use the linksys software it came with, i just use it with windows and got the drivers online. It connects all the way accross my house with full bars! i love it. |
