Product Description

From the Manufacturer

From the Manufacturer The Network Optimizer for Gaming and VoIP from Linksys streamlines your home network for next-generation Internet applications. By applying various Quality of Service (QoS) techniques to your network

The Linksys Network Optimizer streamlines your network traffic. See how it works.
traffic, the Network Optimizer makes sure time-sensitive applications like online gaming and VoIP calls run smoothly.

The Network Optimizer sits between your home router and broadband cable or DSL modem, and monitors the data going through. It automatically determines what data is time-sensitive and what isn't, and prioritizes delivery of that data to its destination, ensuring the best-possible performance for the various types of data that go through your network.

Traffic prioritization helps make sure that your online games don't lag when someone else on the network is surfing the web or sending email. Voice over IP phone calls sound cleaner. Outgoing streamed video from your Internet Video Camera runs smoother. And the best part is that the Network Optimizer takes care of prioritizing the data automatically, with no user setup of QoS policies required. After a simple installation it gets right to work, enhancing your network's performance and helping you get the most out of your high-speed Internet connection.

The Network Optimizer features two standard ethernet ports and four LED status lights that indicate power, activity, and connectivity with the modem and router.

What's in the Box
Network Optimizer, power adapter, ethernet cable, quick installation guide, and user guide on CD-ROM.

This review is from: Linksys Network Optimizer for Gaming and VoIP (Personal Computers)
I was having some issues with VOIP quality dropping if our PC's were in heavy use on the internet. So I picked up this device hoping to fix the issues, and sure enough, it worked!

Setup was PAINLESS beyond belief! I plugged it in, waited 3 mintues, and it was done, completely automatic exactly as described.. A 5 year old could hook this thing up!

In testing, it works perfect.. I saturated my internet connection with downloads and video streaming, then tried to make a VOIP call, and the call was crystal clear. This device squeezed down the other things, and allocated more space for the VOIP, and once the call completed, it increased back up the other items.

The OGV200 takes vonage from barely adequate to completely usable. I've got a 6/8mbit cablemodem, but use it fairly heavily for work. Vonage quality was often too poor to use for business calls. After getting the network optimizer, I get no more complaints from the people I'm calling. Definitely worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll get clearer Vonage calls and faster downloads, August 23, 2007
This review is from: Linksys Network Optimizer for Gaming and VoIP (Personal Computers)
I had problems with my DSL connection and voice line when I switched to Vonage (VoIP). I use a Linksys wireless switch router to connect my three PCs and Vonage phone adapter to the internet via a Verizon 3Mbps DSL.

When I connected this Optimizer between the router and the modem, my problems were gone, except for the internet being intermittent. So I logged on to the Optimizer's setup page (by default 192.168.188.1) and changed the Rate Detection and Modem Type from Auto to their specific values and it was smooth surfin' from then on.
