Wireless-AC for Faster Speed and Reliability

Upgrade your wireless home network and enjoy speeds up to 3x faster than wireless-N using the Linksys AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC Router. This router offers wireless-AC technology, which delivers a faster, stronger Wi-Fi connection that is ideal for gaming and HD video streaming. With speeds up to AC1750 Mbps (N450 +AC1300), wireless-AC provides gigabit Wi-Fi speeds that allow content to download faster, and large video and music files to sync more quickly. When compared to conventional Wireless N routers, Linksys Wireless AC Routers feature wider channels to handle 4x the traffic. They also offer improved processing to carry more data at a faster rate, and multiple antennas to provide a strong and reliable signal. This is important because as the number of Wi-Fi-enabled devices in your home increases, Wireless-AC makes it possible for you to catch up on your favorite show on Netflix on your HDTV while family members can simultaneously stream movies or music and play online games–all without interruption from a slow network connection.

Beamforming Creates Stronger, Faster Connections

Another important feature of the Linksys AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi router is beamforming, an innovative technology that strengthens communication between your connected devices and router. Beamforming enables the router to identify and connect directly with other devices, rather than simply sending out wireless signals in a general direction. Beamforming results in faster network speeds, better wireless range, reduced interference from other devices, and stronger Wi-Fi connections. It also helps extend the battery life of connected devices and reduces their power consumption because data is transferred more quickly.

Smart Wi-Fi to Optimize Your Home Network

With Linksys Smart Wi-Fi, you can access and control your home network at any time, from wherever you are. For example, Smart Wi-Fi allows you to restrict Internet access at certain times of the day with parental controls. It also allows you to create unique Wi-Fi passwords for your guests, monitor devices on your home network and add new ones, and check upload and download speeds. In addition, Linksys Smart Wi-Fi allows you to prioritize which devices on your network get the most bandwidth. This enables you to reduce lag times and buffering when you're streaming media or playing online games.

Your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account also gives you access to a growing suite of apps that provide new ways to control and interact with your home Wi-Fi network. Block the Bad Stuff lets you add one of three levels of protective filtering to help safeguard your wireless network. HipPlay is a fun digital media aggregator and player.

Designed for your iPhone, Device Monitr allows you to monitor game consoles, tablet computers, and other devices, while NetProofer lets you restrict access to certain websites.

Upgrade Your Devices to Enjoy the Full Benefits of Wireless-AC

Using Linksys's family of wireless-AC peripherals, you can take full advantage of the improved speed and stability of wireless-AC. Linksys Universal Media Connector lets you connect wired devices such as game consoles and smart TVs to your Wi-Fi network and stream HD or even 3D HD video content. The connector operates on the 5 GHz band, resulting in less interference and a clearer signal. Additionally, the Linksys Dual Band AC1200 Wireless 3.0 Adapter (WUSB6300) enables you to upgrade your laptop or desktop computer to fully benefit from the faster speeds of wireless-AC technology to stream high-definition video or enjoy high-speed gaming.

This router keeps loosing it's firmware update, and every day or two, it drops the internet connection and needs to be rebooted to get the internet to come back up.

Style Name: AC1750Product Packaging: Standard Packaging Verified Purchase
Summary: A great router if you need one now, and are looking to futureproof your setup; and the Cloud services are optional (after the initial setup)

My previous router: DIR-655 for about 5 years.

Review: My last router stopped working after many years of great service. I was in a pickle: do I buy an 'n' router, the standard created over 5 years ago (ancient by computer standards), or do I get the newer (and untested) 'AC' standard for more $$?

What convinced me was the reviews for the EA4500 v2. My thinking was, if this thing is basically the EA4500 with support for the new wireless standard, then why not pay an extra 40$ for the increase in technology? I assumed it would not be faster since I was still using g/n, but as it turns out, this thing smokes my old router (see speeds below).

The big selling point that Linksys tries to push is the 'App' feature. I'll put it to you like this: have you ever wanted to check your home internet status while you were, say, on business in another country? Or did you ever think, 'geeze, i forgot to change the parental settings!' and wanted to up the porn filter at home from your office?

Yeah, me neither.

Routers to me are like the cement foundation of your home: I appreciate they might be the most critical part of the house, but hopefully I'll never have to bother with them. A bad router (or cement job) is one that requires attention after the initial setup. Hopefully the first and last time I looked at my EA6500 router screen was a few days ago when i took it out of the box.

Basically, the programs ('Apps') that are accessed via registering for their Cloud service (free) is an attempt to be more Macintosh, which the kids find trendy these days.

Original Review from September 26, 2012:
Bought two EA6500s to replace two EA4500s. One for DHCP, one for non-DHCP to extend wireless - yes, could have bought bridge instead of second EAxxxx, but prefer matched hardware for admin purposes. No speed advantage over EA4500, since none of my installed hardware has latest high-speed wireless hardware standard. Second USB is nice, but not critical. Some other feature of near-field single tap to connect seems nice, but appears limited to cell phones with some app (have not tried, easier to just connect than download and install app). Biggest EA6500 problem was latest firmware (1.1.27.141816). Suspect a problem with firmware for case of non-DHCP (192.168.1.2) use, as EA6500 was error-free after factory reset, but displays nuisance pop-up message "! Unexpected Error" after admin login to a non-DHCP configured EA6500 using 192.168.1.2 for router access, after which everything seems somewhat normal. Linksys support was of little help, advised to reset to factory setting (which is old firmware version) after spending nearly 3 hours on phone with them. Risk of buying latest technology... it may have bugs (pretty convinced latest firmware is cause of "! Unexpected Error"). Bottom line, if you are only using one EA6500, you should be fine with this product.

We recently released a firmware to address the issue you described. Go to: http://kb.linksys.com/26633 for step-by-step instructions or feel free to use the router's firmware update function. If you would like personal assistance, please call our support line at (800) 326-7114. Note: if you have auto update turned on, your firmware may already be updated.

This procedure is not necessary for newly purchased products because the router will be automatically updated to the latest firmware upon installation (using the setup CD).

I bought this router impulsively without doing much research, this is something I never do but did for some reason, after realizing my mistake I read some mixed reviews here on amazon and also on Newegg. I was scared I would get it and have it restart a bunch or drop single. So I researched a few other websites for reviews and they all said the same thing. “Update your firmware”! I am an IT professional and I must say this router impressed me. I did a speed test directly connect to my modem (without the router) and got speeds around 130mbs download and 20mbs uploading on average over 10 test. I did the same tests after installing the router and the speeds were the same!

That being said MAKE SURE you update the Firmware to the router. The CD it comes with does this for you so use it! The new firmware updates took care of the issues the router formally had making it one of the leading routers available to you! I run two computer both raid on wow at the same time with no lag issues what so ever! A++

The setup was easy, and the CD walks you through it, the web interface the router use is clean and easy to use!

I hope this review helps you make a decision on to buy or not. It is a great product, but its not the only option there are many great top end routers right now and only you can decide what you want to spend your money on!

Style Name: AC1200 with GigabitProduct Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging Verified Purchase
I use two wireless routers to cover both levels of our home, with the cable modem feeding into the downstairs router and an in-wall Ethernet line running between it and the upstairs router. I set up the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks to be the same (except channel) between the levels so we can roam freely without having to change networks on our client devices.

I bought two of these EA6350 AC1200 routers to replace a pair of Linksys EA2500 routers (10/100 LAN dual band wireless) that I had used previously. The previous ones had replaced a pair of higher-end Asus RT-N56U routers (Gigabit LAN dual band wireless) that both had hardware problems unresolved by Asus despite returns. I leaned toward another Linksys product because the EA2500 routers had been completely stable and reliable for a couple of years now, and my old WRT-56G routers before that had been incredible workhorses. I was only replacing the EA2500 routers because my ISP had upgraded my Internet speed to 105 Mbps download and the EA2500 routers couldn't give me the full potential of that connection. I tested this by pulling out my two gigabit Asus routers and seeing a dramatic increase in both wired and wireless performance when moving to the higher-end routers. Unfortunately, they lasted less than a week before failing again, so I was back in the router market.

I considered the latest Linksys AC1900 router, but it had terrible reviews. I considered the latest Asus AC1900 router, but it is quite expensive, and I saw some inkling of reviewers describing the condition that my older Asus routers had suffered from. That spooked me. I chose this model because the price was decent, and the rated speeds should have easily been sufficient to fully exploit my new Internet speeds.
