Up to 4.3x Faster than Conventional Wireless

Get superior performance and enjoy speeds up to 4.3x faster than wireless-N with the Linksys AC1900 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router. Using wireless-AC technology this router offers exceptional data streaming speeds of up to AC1900 Mbps (N600 + AC1300), making it ideal for large households, serious gamers, and HD video enthusiasts. The router's gigabit Wi-Fi speeds allow for extremely quick downloads of large files. As you add Wi-Fi-enabled devices, wireless-AC makes it possible for you to catch up on your favorite show on Netflix while family members simultaneously stream HD movies on another device, play online games, or browse the web–without waiting for content to buffer. The AC1900 also boasts three adjustable antennas that help distribute the Wi-Fi signal and extend its range throughout your home. The AC1900 includes USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, letting you easily share devices like external hard drives and printers across your network. It also has four gigabit ports to connect wired devices at speeds up to 10x faster than Ethernet.

Beamforming Creates Stronger, Faster Connections

The Linksys AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi router features beamforming, an innovative technology that optimizes the wireless signal strength between your connected devices and router. Beamforming enables the router to identify and connect directly with other devices rather than simply sending out wireless signals in a general direction. This results in faster network speeds, better wireless range, and reduced interference from other devices. It also helps extend the battery life of connected devices and reduce their power consumption because data is transferred more quickly.

Manage Your Home Network Remotely with Linksys Smart Wi-Fi

With Linksys Smart Wi-Fi you can access and control your home network from wherever you are using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. For example, you can set parental controls to restrict Internet access during certain times of the day and create unique, secure Wi-Fi passwords for your guests. You can also monitor activity on your home network, add new devices, and check upload and download speeds. In addition, Linksys Smart Wi-Fi allows you to prioritize which devices on your network receive the most bandwidth to reduce lag times and buffering when you're streaming HD media or gaming. Your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account also gives you access to apps that provide additional ways to control and interact with your home Wi-Fi network. Block the Bad Stuff lets you add one of three levels of protective filtering to help safeguard your wireless network. Device Monitr allows you to monitor game consoles, tablet computers, and other devices, while NetProofer lets you restrict access to certain websites.

Upgrade Your Devices to Enjoy the Full Benefits of Wireless-AC

Using Linksys's family of wireless-AC peripherals you can take full advantage of the improved speed and stability of wireless-AC. The Linksys Universal Media Connector (WUMC710) lets you connect wired devices such as game consoles and smart TVs to your Wi-Fi network and stream HD or even 3D HD video content seamlessly. The connector operates on the 5 GHz band, resulting in less interference and a clearer signal. Additionally, the Linksys Dual Band AC1200 Wireless 3.0 Adapter (WUSB6300) enables you to upgrade your laptop or desktop computer to fully benefit from the faster speeds of wireless-AC technology to stream high-definition video or enjoy high-speed gaming.

Wanted an AC router, did lots of research including DLink, Netgear Nighthawk, and Asus high end routers. Liked the concept of this router's SmartLink interface. There were lots of bad reviews but also some good ones too and figured I'd try it out, worst case I could return it. Bought in June 2014. Day 1, setup was easy, range was great. 3 hours later while streaming the signal was gone. For 2 days this occurred anywhere from 3 -7 times per day. Pulling the power seemed to fix it but a $180 router shouldn't need to be rebooted (ever in my opinion) much less 3x-7x per day.
Call 1:
So I call Linksys/Belkin (well armed with how the experience might go after reading the reviews) to resolve the issue. I go through the motions of getting my contact info, explaining the problem and responding to their question path they read directly off a procedure list in front of them. Fine, maybe it will help. Verified that all the latest settings were enabled and that my router was properly configured, but they wanted me to re-clone the MAC address from a hard wire connection. Reboot and im back on my way after an entire hour on the phone.
Call 2:
Day 2, called again b/c of same issue, go through all of the same BS before despite having a case ID. I get a Sr. Technician finally who wanted to reset the router to factory and then re-establish settings. So night 2 after 1.5 hours of the same playbook of questions, the router is rebooted and works, for an hour before dropping both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. Went to bed and decided to deal with the one last time the next evening.
Call 3:
Tried to reboot router first, that wouldn't work - no wireless internet could be achieved whatsoever despite it broadcasting the network name/signal.

I have used and installed home networks of various types and sizes, including those based on Linksys products. I was excited about the release of this EA 6900 router as it would combine several features I wanted... 2 bands, external antennas (which I planned to replace with more powerful ones), and off-site management. I ordered it pre-release directly from Linksys.

I could not be more disappointed. While the features all sound great on paper, they DO NOT work well in reality. I didn't experience trouble during start-up like many of the other reviewers. My troubles came shortly thereafter, and the unit eventually overheated.

The minor issues: the range is shorter than comparable routers. There was considerable speed loss (75% or so) even when in good range. There was about a 50% speed loss with items that were directly plugged in. For those of us who pay a lot extra to get higher speeds (100gig), this was a problem. Perhaps this won't effect those with slower connection speeds as much.

WORST issue: after a couple of weeks, speed was reduced dramatically. I investigated, and discovered a terrible burning smell. Like others, I experienced an over-heated unit. This should not have been caused either by our usage or item placement, and is due to a product not ready for prime-time.

APPLE AirPort: I returned this product and purchased an AirPort Extreme. I could not be happier. It has less features and customability, but simply works easily and well. The range is better, and speed much better (very little loss when connected via ethernet or wireless). I kicked myself for not having tried Apple networking products prior to now, and have already seamlessly added a couple of AirPort Expresses as Access Points to expand the network.

Summary: The latest firmware from Linksys will cause the modem to lock up after several hours or days (duration varies). Do not purchase this router unless you are an IT hobbyist who enjoys troubleshooting.

I'm an IT professional who purchased this router for my own home. I've only used Linksys routers for myself and didn't need to replace the Linksys EA3500 I had in service, but I wanted to try out the new AC technology and had faith in Linksys so I got this EA6900 in January. I wanted to get it at launch but figured I'd allot time for any bugs to be worked out. My unit shipped with firmware Ver.1.1.42 (Build 156465) which I had no problems with. By default, Auto Update is set in the configuration and it updated itself to Ver.1.1.42 (Build 158863) after a few weeks. This is when problems began.

After 6/7 days, wifi devices will start losing connection. Soon thereafter, all wifi devices are disconnected and the router is inaccessble even via wired connections. Power cycle the router and this resolves the issues for another 6/7 days. The issue has been reported to Linksys support by myself and many others. There are posts on the Linksys customer forum regarding the exact same situation. Customer Support will instruct you to make arbitrary configuration changes on the router which I'm sure they are scripted to do. These changes won't fix anything.

Linksys/Belkin, if you're listening, you're doing a horrible job of customer service on this. You have many users who purchased a flagship AC router and it doesn't work. I was drooling waiting for the WRT1900 to come out, but I see it has just as many issues. And if you are actually monitoring customer reviews, please contact me. Replace my router.
