This review is from: Linux Hardware Compatibility Howto (Paperback)
If you are a newbie to Linux, you may not know this, but most HOWTOs can be found online as part of the Linux Documentation Project. Just do a search for HOWTO and linux and you'll bring up a variety of sites that will point you to more recent versions of this document.

This is not to say that you shouldn't buy this book. I'm not sure who is publishing this, but there is a chance that the proceeds for this book are going towards the people who have worked to maintain the HOWTO through the years. I encourage you to do some research to see if buying this book goes to a good cause. If so, buy it!

Truth told, if you interested in building a linux system and are concerned with hardware compatibility, the Internet is the ONLY way to do research. Books get out of date far, far too quickly.
