I love lion brand cotton yarn!

I was pleasantly surprised at the thickness...good 'beefy' yarn, and an absolute pleasure to work with.

I have crocheted my way through at least 15 skeins of this yarn in many colors over the past few years and have never been disappointed. Some say you can pull the yarn from the middle of the skein but I have never found that to be true. But the skeins are compact and tidy so unwrapping the yarn from the outside isn't a problem. It would be better of course if it fed from the center but it's not a deal-breaker. The yarn doesn't seem thick or heavy as I work with it but the items I have made do have considerable weight and substance. It's great for placemats -one of my favorite gifts to make and give. Seems just about everyone enjoys new placemats. I made a baby blanket too and it's pretty weighty but being cotton I think it won't be too hot. I machine wash and dry in regular fashion and am always amazed my stitches don't unravel. Some of my placemats are finished with a fringe on each end. I don't care for how the fringe looks after laundering so I use other ways to finish now, or nothing. I think fringe made with synthetic yarn might be unaffected by laundering but don't really know.

I used this yarn as a contrast color in an afghan I made as a gift. I worked on the afghan for 6 months, it was a very difficult pattern. After awhile I began noticing little pieces of lint on the yarn here and there throughout the afghan and by the time I was finished there was lint all over the whole piece, including on the other yarn I used, which was a different brand of cotton yarn, and made it look horrible because it was a lighter color. I tried everything, washing it, which actually made it worse, using a lint remover, etc. Nothing will get rid of it. I've used cotton yarns and many other yarns before and never had anything like this happen. My afghan that was to be a gift was completely ruined and all my work and money was just wasted. This yarn is just crap for what I paid for it.

I also noticed several places in the skeins where 2 ends had been knotted together, something one would expect with really cheap yarn. I will never ever buy this brand of yarn again.

I had used this brand of yarn before but with a different type of yarn for another afghan I made and that was ruined too because it turned out all misshapen, even though the pattern called for that yarn. It was terrible. Never again. If I could give this yarn a negative rating, I would.

It simply will not slide and my hands are sore from making a simple hat that should have taken a few hours but required several days as I had to stop several times to rest my hands! I was debating between 2 different yarns and left the wrong one in the cart but I guess that is my fault so I kept it and used it but I will not buy it again! As a rule I enjoy most Lion Brand Yarns but this one was not a pleasure to work with!

I was extremely disappointed in this yarn. It is the first 100% cotton yarn I've used so maybe that is the issue, but the skein probably has 6 knots in it. Where pieces were broken and then tied together. I don't know if this is typical of Lion Brand's cotton yarn, but I have never had yarn like this before and don't think this quality should sell for as much as it did. I felt this was really pricey compared to what I saw it for at my local crafts shop. I only purchased to meet $25 minimum for free shipping. If I ever try this brand again, I will purchase from a local store when I can return it or something. I'm afraid it will make my finished work look bad to have so many knots in the yarn.

I love lion brand cotton yarn! I love that the skeins are big and the cotton yarn is not too thin. The color was what I was looking for. All in all, I'm a very pleased customer!

i ordered 4 of the same yarns. 2 came in the nice black color. 2 came in charcoal color. i checked the label all the same. so disappointed because i crocheted big piece before i got it that it is not lighting or my eyes but the yarn, very disappointed. i will not return it because it too much of hassle just will find use for this 2 yarns, it also sheds. i will see what will happen after washing. i hope it will hold the color. even with my bad experience i will give lion brand another chance

I made a hat and purse with this yarn. I like its feel, ease of use, natural cotton, color, and how a finished item feels.
Love it.

I have used other brands that I have always had a hard time crocheting and I was surprised when I found this brand so easy to work with. It's soft and well wrapped so I did not find it coming unravelled while working with it.
