More About the Author

www.stephendsullivan.com - Adventure guaranteed. (Monsters optional.)

I was born in 1959 in Illinois, grew up in Massachusetts, attended SMU (U. Mass, Dartmouth), and moved to Wisconsin to work for TSR (the Dungeons & Dragons people) in 1980.

I've been in Wisconsin ever since, writing stories, drawing, and raising kids with my wife (who I've been with since 1980 as well).

I've had more than 30 books published (counting the anthologies and the ghost-written stuff not listed by name on Amazon). I've also been involved with more comic books and games than I can either list or remember. (More than 30 years in publishing will do that to you.) Projects I've worked on include D&D, Iron Man, Dragonlance, Spider Riders, Fantastic 4, Star Wars, Speed Racer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thunderbirds, The Simpsons, Darkwing Duck, The Twilight Empire, the Blue Kingdoms (with co-creator Jean Rabe), and many, many more.

I am co-creator and co-host of Uncanny Radio, a program dedicated to the strange and supernatural, with my friend Linda Godfrey. Though original over-the air broadcasts have ended, UR can still be heard in repeats online at www.uncannyworld.com.

After a brief stint doing in the "real world," I'm now back to creating fantasy and adventure stories (and art) full time. I've even started putting stories -- both original and reprints -- up for Kindle and other ebook readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Satisfying End to A Great Series, November 15, 2001

This review is from: The Lion: Clan War, Seventh Scroll (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was great! I thought Sullivan did a good job of weaving together the elements of the previous six books and then bring the characters together for the final show down. There were some points when I was confused, but all in all it was a great finale. I am sorry to see the series end. I think Sullivan also respected the traditions of Samurai well and did not create easy outs for characters...even when they realized their mistake. It had a VERY Asian feel to it. I hope they write more.

This is my favorite book series ever. This particular book was great as well. I will just say that while it had a great finish I was also disappointed with a few choices the writer made :(

3.0 out of 5 stars Out With a Smaller Boom than Expected, July 22, 2003
This review is from: The Lion: Clan War, Seventh Scroll (Mass Market Paperback)
I really have been loving this series, but the conclusion didn't live up to all I had hoped for. Apparently Stephen didn't bother to read the previous books written by his cohorts, and decided to skew the meticulusly created characters. Toturi's character was nice but not delved into enough. The other character's profiles seemed totally off from how they appeared in the other books - not only that but some events even seemed to occur differently!! The final battle seemed to drag on for ages, with people going to their "last" ounce of strength over and over and over again. While it was still a good book, it definitly was not the sort of conclusion the series deserved. I am very suprised the man who crafted The Scorpion wrote something this starkly different.
