Review

Prince Johannas of Ethiopia is torn apart by the escalating civil war in his country. Knowing a new constitution will end the war, he comes to the United States to finish the precious document. He never expects, however, to meet the woman of his dreams, especially when a deadly accident throws her literally at his feet. Shana Zachary has given up on relationships in general, men in specific, and doesn't intend to change her mind...until danger and intrigue force her to choose love.

Janice L. Dennie has written an interesting novel staged against the lush backdrops of San Francisco and Ethiopia, political intrigue and lots of romance (Romantic Times Magazine August, 1997) -- Romantic Times Magazine August, 1997

Let me just say I read this book in one night. The story captivated me straight away. This story is simple penned with the spirit of God working in Janice.

The writing is awesome and the story-telling superb. Kudos to Janice for writing a-soon-to-be bestseller! You have a fan forever. Keep up the gifted writing and never let go of YOUR dream!

1.0 out of 5 stars Shockingly sloppy and uninteresting, July 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lion of Judah (Mass Market Paperback)
If you have to buy this book, buy it used. It is not worth the paper it was printed on. Nor is her other book, Moon Goddess. Lion of Judah is saturated with numerous spelling, grammatical, and typographical mistakes. it also contains inconsistencies. It's plain that a proofreader was not used, and that the author -- presuming she proofread it herself -- couldn't catch her own mistakes. It is a wonder that it was even published. The idea is good, but the story is not written well at all. And, it contains some very corny content. For example, on page 118 of the paperback, she writes about a suspicious character: "He looked first to the left, then to the right, then quietly walked out of the library." <lol> And, in that same paragraph she provides one of the book's many annoying redundancies: "A third receiver was put back on its cradle at the end of the call. Ali hung up the phone shortly after Johannas hung up." Dennie even quotes the telephone, as if it can speak "Ring Ring". She does the same with the answering machine when she says "Beep". I could cite many, many more examples, and ones that are quite obvious too.
