Cool Game,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Lion King (Video Game)
I love the Lion King Game! It is still fun after i've been playing it for, oh maybe, 6 or 7 years. There are 10 levels. The first one is The Pridelands, where little Simba learns to jump, roll, climb, and kill enemies, like iguanas and hedgehogs, and a big one at the end! The second level is Can't Wait To Be King, where Simba gets thrown by monkeys, bounced by rhinos, and can take a ride on an ostritch. It's a little tricky to find out what you have to do to get thrown in the right place (hint: roar at the pink monkeys). The third level is what i like to call hyena heaven, but that's not what it's really called. It's a pretty easy level, just keep eating bugs and you'll be fine. The fourth level, The Stampede, gives you a front view of Simba as he runs through a large valley. He's supposed to jump over the rocks (or go around them) and dodge the antelope, but i've found that he can jump over the antelope as they come along. The fifth level is one with falling rocks, but i forgot the name. The rocks fall on you after about 5 seconds of standing in the same place, so keep moving. The sixth level is Hakuna Matata. In this level, Simba can slide down waterfalls, and as amazing as it sounds, climb up waterfalls (you'll see how). And there's a big hairy something at the end! In the seventh level, Simba is finally grown up, so he has some new moves, like slash and double slash, which are very useful in these levels, especially for those leopards. The next level is one that i also forgot the name, but it is just lava, lava, lava everywhere you go. Lava drips, lava volcanoes, lava rivers. Be careful and watch the hyenas and kill the bats fast please. I'm sorry, but the ninth level is a pain if you dont have the map. There are about 30 caves, each connecting to a different one, and no other one. The hyenas are vicious. (At the beginning, go to the cave on the far end.) The last level is pretty hard, but not the hardest. In this level, you meet Scar 3 times. Dont let him turn you over and slap your face. Run up to him and slap him repeatedly. It works. Be careful because there is lightening all around and fire too. In the last battle, Scar is pretty wiped out, and he is easier to beat. You know you have beaten him because he jumps out of the screen. If and when you kill him for the third time, go to the far left edge (dont fall off!) and ROAR! ROAR FOR JOY! You've finished the game! I suggest buying this game because, it's way past worth it.

It's a blast! I had fun playing, with tons of levels for you to tackle! It starts as young Simba and you progress into adult Simba. You get more exciting moves too! And tackle your evil uncle himself, Scar! I give it two thumbs up!

I do still have a Super Nintendo. I believe it was the best system of it's day, and I still enjoy playing games on it. The games, such as this one, are really good; even when compared to today's games. This game in particular brings back fond memories... I was first introduced to this game at a dentist's office (it was one of the games you could play in a small room while you waited for your turn). It was second only to a Sonic the Hedgehog game as my favorite game to play in there. My mom saw me playing it and thought that young Simba was so cute, she bought it for me. It's harder for younger kids than older kids, as it was more challenging for me back then then it is now. Still, I can remember when I first got past the "Hakuna Matatta" level, and Simba became an adult; it felt quite magical to control a young cub in the first several levels, and then see and control him as an adult in the rest. Beating the "Be Prepared" level, and defeating Scar were also proud accomplishments. The bonus levels were fun (my favorite being the Pumba one), and even when I did finish the game I played it over and over and over. I did, however, never leave the easy difficulty *blushes*. Still this is a wonderful game, with many pros and no cons I can think of. If your mom hasn't already gotten you this, and you still have a Super Nintendo, then you need to get this game for your collection.

My sister got this game when she was a kid, she never made it past the second level. I gave a crack at it and made it a little further. This game has a Very high difficulty after the first level. The Music and graphics however are quite good. I only suggest this game to hardened gamers that are lion king fans.

I really love this game, but unfortunately it is really short. I just dug it out the other day and I played it on hard with no cheats. It takes about 30 minutes to beat the whole game. But before you figure out all the patterns and order you have to do things, it is a really challenging and fun old game to play. :-)

I really enjoyed playing this game while I was growing up. The only problem I had with my particular game was getting trapped in Level 8 (with the lava). For some reason, once I reached a certain point in that level, it was like an invisible wall blocked me from jumping out of that particular area. I could crouch and see what was below me, but I had no way of getting there! It happened EVERY time. Needless to say, I was never able to finish the game because of this.
Other than that, it was a wonderful game. I still played it over and over, even knowing that I would never be able to advance beyond Level 8. Maybe I'll buy another from this site and try again...

I loved this game so much as a kid. The tragic things with what we loved as kids is that often our judgment is clouded by nostalgia and coming back to a childhood love is often disappointing. The Lion King for SNES (and its Genesis counterpart) do NOT disappoint. I found myself wondering how I beat the thing at age eight! It provides a challenge even for adult gamers. Not only does it deliver wonderful gameplay but the graphics are gorgeous. The music is also great and catchy. It's an overall quality game.
