A Very Fond Memory,
This review is from: The Lion Tamer's Daughter and Other Stories (Laurel-Leaf Books) (Mass Market Paperback)
I grew up reading quite a lot of books and though my memory has permitted me to remember most of them, this one really sticks out. Being American it was nice to read stuff from a foreign author and featuring foreign characters. This was some of my first real exposure to other cultures and their intriguing customs and phrases. (a real shock for me to learn what "fag" was slang for elsewhere)
However, beyond that, the book itself was of very good quality. The characters were well done and the whole mystical/psychological relationship that is revealed really got me interested in that sort of thing. This book may not be very popular but I think the high praise from those who have read it shows that it is a very good read.

Satisfying Stories That Linger,
By "cardinal_anne" (Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lion Tamer's Daughter and Other Stories (Hardcover)
It might not seem like four short stories can have much impact, but something about these supernatural tales lingers in the mind long after you've read them. The characters and settings are unusual and engaging, and the stories themselves are not disturbing like some tales of the supernatural, but satisfying.

Good, solid, satisfying stories,

I stumbled upon this book at the library by accident. Talk about a buried gem! Unlike so many authors, Mr. Dickinson doesn't try to explain too much nor does he leave you with a sense of unsatisfied wonder. I rate it an A!
