This set is part of the "Great Railways Adventures"series that offers both railroad nostalgia and traditional storytelling. Each package includes a softcover picture book, a story tape, and a battery-operated metal replica of a historic train engine. Like the other engine in this series, The Torpedo Run, this 1937 "Daylight Limited" is scaled to fit standard wooden train tracks and has a magnetic attachment for pulling additional cars. All of the stories feature a brother and sister (Tuck and Billie) and their little dog Chief. The children's family lives by the train tracks and has an affinity for the romance of the glory days of the U.S. railroads. In this adventure, the children manage to save the Daylight Limited and a famous millionaire from crashing on a trip to San Francisco. The soothing voice of the story tape's narrator belongs to LeVar Burton. Gail Hudson

My 4 year old son fell in love with all three parts of this pack. He enjoyed the story which we have read over and over. The tape has cute little train songs that he listens to over and over. And he plays with the train on his tracks, on the floor, in the car, anywhere. We were definitely motivated to get the other two packs in the series. The story and the characters continue with the Torpedo Run and the President Express. The entire series has definitely become a part of our family life. We have together time reading and listening to the tape. And my son stretches his imagination during his quiet playtime with the train and listening to the tape of the story and train music on his own. A real winner in our family

I got this engine a lot cheaper than the price I'm seeing now ($129.00), thank goodness. My grandson hasn't paid attention to the tape or book, but he has an Imaginarium wooden train setup, in which I replaced the center part with a spiral track, and this engine is the one that goes around the track all by itself with no nudging up the incline. Really a nice little motorized engine.,
