Wow I too have the same prob. DO these people not test the DVD before they ship it out.... :-( DVD on the 5.1 Surround Sound more like 3.1

They did send a fix for the DVD - all is well

I have exchanged 3 different copies on the latest Lionel Richie - Live in Paris CD/DVD. All 3 copies DVD on the 5.1 Surround Sound doesn't have any sound coming out on left channel on the 5.1 Surround Sound. I have contact his record labels and they have e-mail me or contact me back at all. That's how they treat their fans.

Well mine was the same as everyone else's.
Is it only the ones from Amazon.com that are this way?
Is this how it was intended to have 80% of the sound from the right hand side?
I just saw Lionel in concert here in New Zealand and this is a great souvenir of the show, but having the sound problem makes it unenjoyable to watch.
But again, great show.

From the minute I started the DVD, I totally felt as if were in Paris at this concert. This is an amazing DVD that you will enjoy over and over again. Lionel is terrific in this concert. He looks great and his voice is amazing! The surround sound gives it that concert sound and feel. Great menu of special features also. It is a must have for all you Lionel Richie Fans!

I thought the concept of the show was outstanding. A lot of energy at the right time and an ease into performing the ballads that did not bog down the show. Glad he did not have recorded tracks. Live should mean mean live! The crowd was into it. I would love to see him live now because I know he can still perform and sing good enough to put on a good show. We need more real music not this jump around the stage with recorded music crap these kids today pass off as show business. This show should go to Vegas and add the old commodores to it in spots! I would surely go see it.

If you want to see Lionel romping about the stage cheerleading his audience, listening to him shout lyrics to them and listening to the audience sing his songs, this is for you. If you want to hear Lionel just
doing what he does best--singing--save your money! This DVD stinks.

I purchased the DVD also and was very disappointed. It's not even 3.0...more like 1.5. The Blu ray is really 5.0...Buy the Blu ray version and it's a completely acceptable experience for the surround sound perfectionist!

I bought this DVD in New Zealand and before looking at it, I checked out the reviews on Amazon. Upon seeing all the reviews relating to sound defects, I quickly played it. My copy was reproduced evenly through both stereo speakers, but it sounded like they forgot to put any microphones around the drummer. Lionel's vocals were recorded very well, the overall sound lacked depth and bass and a rather thin trebly sound was all I got.
I don't know if this is what 5.1 surround sound is like if you only have two speakers (standard stereo), if so I would be surprised.
Lionel puts on a good show, he really gets the crowd going and age is no barrier to him performing well - all the correct notes are hit and he sounds as good now as he did in the 1970's.
I was looking forward to the well known song "Endless Love", but this was the only disappointing performance for me - he only performed half the song and he got the crowd to do all the female (Diana Ross) parts of the song - great crowd interaction, but you never got to appreciate this pretty song.
In summary, a great concert, great video and very average audio, which is a shame. I am sure Lionel would be disappointed with these comments on this modern recording.

Beware the dvd has almost all of the audio missing from the left front and left rear channels on the concert footage. The videos have the audio intact. This is very disappointing and is almost not worth watching. We did not watch the disc until it was too late to return it so it will become an expensive coaster.

Lionel Richie should be pissed off and demand that all of those listed here get a new release of the disc with corrected audio. What do you say Lionel??

I am one of the lucky people who were actually there at the concert last May (I live in Paris) so I was extremely happy to be able to get the show on DVD so that I can relive the experience over and over again. The sound and image quality of the DVD (European version)is absolutely fantastic. Lionel Richie at his best !!
