Mind Expansion,
By
This review is from: The Lion's Way (Hardcover)
If you enjoy reading to expand your mind rather than give it a break, buy this book.
The Lion's Way represents a new anatomy of thinking. "What if Rome had never fallen?" is too cliche to coin as the plot of this book. It is not a religious book, nor is it wholly science fiction. It takes a great writer to actually think through all sides of this unchartered landscape while keeping us informed and in wonderment. Equally well written were the characters, which I identified with and liked very much. Through them, I learned about the past, present and even the future. Though their journey is a fantastic one, they are down-to-earth and real, which is what makes the fiction believable. The pioneering thoughts and what-if possibilities jump off the page and into your mind, and do not take leave. You will be contemplating this book even when it is not in your hand. The Lion's Way is a great read and breaks the convention of the traditional novel.

Excellent concept, brilliantly executed,
This review is from: The Lion's Way (Hardcover)
I have always been intrigued by the idea of re-historying. But it's a complex job. Several of the rehistories I've read fail because they lack internal consistency. Good efforts, but somehow unsatisfying. The Lion's Way is different. It works! I was completely transported by the story, the characters, and the lessons. The world Marsan and Lloyd have created is palpable. They shed light on what it is to be human and how fragile our elaborate social structures can be under their gritty surfaces.
Read this book. You'll be entertained, challenged, and perhaps enlightened.

and that's not just because I spilled crazy glue on my hand while reading it. The Lion's Way tackles big issues in a thought-provoking, entertaining way. While this fast paced novel is set in both the past and future, its message resonates in the present. In today's dark political climate, the principles of Empathia would be a welcome ray of sunshine. I hope the authors are planning another work of art.

What if....,

This review is from: The Lion's Way (Hardcover)
This is a great 'what if' fictional history that mixes action and good old fashioned boy meets girl with thought provoking ideas. An undercurrent for the tides of change can be felt as the story parallels our own current and past culture and events. I often found myself thinking that Marsan's fictional history was more believable than the history we are familiar with. I enjoyed the humanness and humor of the characters. Marsan's writing style is subtle and light. It easily invokes imagery-helping you to play out the story like a movie in your head. Yes, this book would make a great movie!

Lion's Way arrived just before Christmas and I took it with me on our hiking trip. Finished it in just three days (we had to hike!) Marsan and Lloyd create an intense journey of one man's search for truth and meaning. And although it is fiction, you travel right along with the characters questioning the way and the truth in your world! enjoy!

Interesting perspective,
This review is from: The Lion's Way (Hardcover)
This book is a very interesting fiction novel with a richly envisioned world different from our own. While the author takes the time to create a functioning world he allows the reader to use their own imagination to fill in the gaps. While this novel gives an interesting alternate historical view, it also challenges the reader to question their own religious beliefs and really examine what they believe. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fiction story, as well as anyone who would like to challenge their mind.

I sat down to read a chapter, and found myself staying up until the early hours of the morning to finish the story. Compelling characters, thought provoking moral questions, and an action-filled sequence of events all made this book impossible to put down.

The Lion's Way,
This review is from: The Lion's Way (Hardcover)
The Lion's Way was a fantastic book. It was captivating and well written. The characters were well developed and it made it very easy to relate to them and experience their journey. Emotionally it was exciting and suspenseful, it showed the value of strong character, loyalty, the vision and action to do what's right. Overall, The Lion's Way makes you THINK and opens your mind to something that is greater than yourself.
