I bought the Lipper Bamboo Coaster set because I love the look of bamboo products. However, I've had these coasters for a few months now and overall I'm not very impressed.

At first glance the coasters look really nice, but upon a closer inspection they are indeed roughly made like others have already mentioned. Now if that was the only problem, then I would still like these coasters because it makes them more natural looking. But, after using 3 of the 6 coasters I have noticed large water stains as a result of my glasses sweating. This has made the coasters look horrible.

In addition to becoming stained with heavy use, the coasters do not absorb water at all. So if you have glasses that sweat a lot, you are going to end up with a pool of water that can leak off the coasters.

Final Note: If you want a coaster that actually absorbs water, then stay away from these bamboo coasters. If you don't want to spend the extra to get the better sandstone ones, then I would recommend you try the AbsorbaStone coaster. AbsorbaStone is equivalently priced to these bamboo coasters, and they are a lot more functional.

We were looking for a coaster set to set out when entertaining & decided to try this one & have gotten more compliments than ever! The style keeps them trendy & they are a good weight that they don't slip or spin while in use.
They are wide enough to be comfortable with almost any glass & a wet paper towel can clean them off easily so that after each event we can clean them to look new again.
The reason for only four stars is that there isn't an upper lip around the outside edge to help catch extra sweat from the glass. The inside ridges do help some, so we haven't experianced any major problems yet. I usually go through after the event & quick dry off any water spots I see & I can say that these coasters do greatly help prevent water marks & so far, anything that's left behind is too little to stay permanent.

When we opened the package, they had a slight smell to them. It was not completely pleasant, but not repulsive either. The coasters and holder are a slightly lighter golden honey color than in the photograph on the website.

They have a smooth finish and a appearance that children can not resist. They look almost like really big checkers. They also make a pleasant sound when they are dropped back into the holder or banged together. I have a feeling that these are going to end up all over the house, from the little ones playing with them. Maybe I need to order an extra set, for that purpose. :) We like them.

The bottom of the holder has three fuzzy velvet like protective stickers on it, so that it does not damage whatever surface that you store these on. That was a nice surprise.

These do not have sharp edges, and the smooth bottom will be very suitable for any surface, esp wooden. I like the holder that comes with the set too.

These wood coasters don't have much of a finish. I've only had them a month and one coaster is warping the way that unfinished wood will do when exposed to moisture. I recently noticed that one is starting to crack. When I lifted it up to see if the crack was through to the bottom there was a small pool of water from where my glass had dripped onto the coaster and the water had leaked through the crack onto my desk. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a coaster?

Theses coasters look nice, but are not functional. They do not absorb any water, so you end up having to wipe the tables right away.

We dont really use coasters much and I keep mine in my den for when friends comes by. They are more for looks than function. They look nice and they are 4.5" across. Only kick I have is they are much lighter color, At a glance they look like pine.
And they look good on amazon but the ones I got dont have rounded edges. Look like they were made fast. Only details are 3 shallow rings cut into the tops. But I do like the bamboo.

I first found these at Bed, Bath, & Beyond when I was looking for a functional, attractive coaster set. (Went back to get another set and both stores I tried were completely out of stock.) Previously, I had tried sandstone (breaks if it falls on the floor), slate (slippery), and several other types that were equally non-funtional. The rings on these coasters hold more moisture that any other coaster except the sandstone. But, the sandstone ended up as "disposable" coasters (at a non-disposable price) due to accidentally ending up on the floor. For now, these are the top of my list for coasters.

These are nice looking, but drinks will stick to them if there is any moisture on them. We are getting rid of ours and going to get something else. Not much fun having them stick and then fall off clattering on the wood table and floor.

These are elegant coasters for the money, but there are some flaws. For one, the holder was practically falling apart by the time it arrived; fortunately, I don't need it. Also, the quality of the individual coasters vary; some have a smooth finish, while others have small splinters of wood sticking out. Still, these are a step above flat, plastic coasters, adding a touch of elegance to one's dinner table.
