Not bad, but...,

I love the space saving capability of this design, and the ease of access with the tins (just turn for shake or pour capability). HOWEVER - the tins are not air-tight, and the plastic cover on the tins is reactive to some spices. My cumin became encased in a plastiky mess, and the salt becomes a salt block within days. Also, due that the spices are stored on their sides, there's constantly a mess of spice-jumble on the counter under the spice tins. I still use the tins for spices that I use up really quickly - oregano, marjoram, etc.... - but have to keep a separate stock of anything that reacts with moisture and the plastic tops (trial and error). I would look into other storage options if you're not tight on space.

I have been waiting for years to purchase my ideal spice rack - this was my wedding present to myself - this isn't quite it but it was the best I came across. I got THREE of them to hold my 50+ spices - not kidding about waiting years for this. Pros - it looks really good, it's infinitely expandable, I can make them for whatever spices I have rather then a preset group of spices, and they don't take up space that would otherwise be used (I have them on the side of my fridge). Cons - the containers could be better - the spices get caught in the threads and spill a little, I'm not sure how durable the plastic cover is, and they only hold the contents of a regular sized spice container if you really push the stuff in there (thus ensuring some spill when you take the top off). For labels - you can either buy clear round labels online and print them yourself or find someone online who will do the printing for you. Overall - I wish the containers were a little better, especially for the $300+ I spent on this thing, but I did a fair amount of research and didn't come across anything better.

I emptied my spice small cabinet and placed the individual containers on the side of my refrigerator. The containers along with my wall mounted knives and pot rack have opened new cabinet space in my kitchen plus the great looks and easy access to what I need have sold me 100% on the magnetic spice containers. As mentioned before, salt will not work, just use a salt grinder or another type of container. Because I placed them on the side of my refrigerator I do not need the metal board, they stick to the refrigerator quite well.
