This was my first experience ordering from Amazon. It was AmazING! We are long
distance grandparents. During our last visit I saw a need for more storage of
all the toys she was accumulating. I sent pictures of toy chests from different
web sites to let the parents choose the one they liked. My daughter-in-law has
purchased many things through Amazon, and sent back the picture of this toy chest.
I ordered it and had it shipped to their home. It arrived sooner than expected.
The next week, we arrived and watched as it was assembled. It was terrific! It
was easy to put together; had all the right parts; nothing missing and nothing
left over :) The top has a wonderful safety feature that keeps it from dropping
on the child's head as she reaches in for toys, and the front of the toy box
is designed so the child can grip it and when the top closes, it does not pinch
their fingers. OK..this is long..let me say that the whole experience was won-
derful. I will order through Amazon again, and it was a pleasure to have everything
go right.

There are many aspects of this $170 toy box that disappoint. For that kind of money I expected a great deal more that what was delivered.

First of all, right out of the box there were missing screws. I know missing screws don't speak to quality, but I'm not done yet so stay tuned.

I was able to quickly move through the assembly process right up to the last big screw. For whatever reason the pre-drilled hole that was put into the wood was drilled too big and the screw would not screw into it and hold. I attempted to put a couple of tooth picks in the hole and the retry the screw, but I found that this toy box is not made of solid wood, but of pressed sawdust. So no matter what I tried to do, the screw would not hold; the pressboard kept crumbling away.

That leads me to my biggest frustration in paying this much for a toy box; it should be solid wood, not cheap pressboard. Nonetheless I marched ahead and figured I see what I could do with just one screw missing.

I then went ahead and tried to attach the hinges. I was able to find a screw to replace the one that never came and got the hinges attached. They are spring loaded so the lid won't close on anyone's fingers. The problem with these hinges is that they don't allow the lid to close at all. The lid sits about one inch from being fully closed and just bounces on the hinges. It looks very tacky for the lid to sit there ajar like that; especially for what's suppose to be such a high quality piece of furniture.

My overall opinion of this toy box is that it's way over priced, even if everything had worked properly. For that price the wood and materials should be first class, not crumby pressboard that crumbles apart as you try to put screws into it and lousy spring-loaded hinges that don't close all the way. I would expect sold wood and hydraulic hinges.

My advice is to steer clear of this toy box and find something else that isn't so over-priced and falls so short of expectations.

I was looking for a nice big toy box. I ordered this toybox and got it in 3 days. Way faster then I thought. It was so easy to put together. I did it all by myself with my 3yr old helping. It didnt take very long and everything fitted perfectly. The directions are easy to follow and the toy box is a really good size. I would definately buy another like it. I would recommend this toy box.

I just received this a couple weeks ago, but it was pretty easy to put together (I did it in an hour while watching TV). It matches our furniture well, is a great size for kids toys, and the door hinges are made very carefully so the door will not close on your child's hands or head.

Super easy to put together, but not exactly what I had in mind. I think for the price it should be made with better quality wood or should I say real wood and not press board. I also found it be smaller than what I had pictured...but I should have paid more attention to the measurements. I was relieved to find that the previous reviews were correct about small fingers not being able to get pinched. No chance!! All in all its a cute toy chest but Im not sure how long it will last, the sides and front are pretty thin.

Dont buy this item unless you want a bunch of pieces of broken wood in a box!! I gave it another shot when i recieved it the first time and it was damaged.( the wood panels were broken and had huge cracks). I returned this item 3 times before getting my money back. Was supposed to be my daughters christmas present but wateves amazon!!

I love this chest. It looks nice. It looks small, but it fits more than you think. We use it at our house to put dress up clothes in. The only con is the lid rubs up against the side a little when you close it. It is made of solid wood and can be sat on by a large adult. It was easy to put together. The finish on mine looked good. I personally wish we would have gotten a lighter finish to match other wood in the room. But it looks nice.

the hinges and door - to put together is really frustrating. At times difficult... but once it is together it is a good way to hide teh toys in rooms that you dont want to see them! lol

The toy chest I ordered arrived broken in several places. I don't know if it was the shipper's fault or the poor packaging. I returned it and bought another brand.
