Written to help you pass NCLEX the first time.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for Nclex-Rn (6th ed) (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book because it was written to help students understand the NCLEX-RN test. The questions are designed to test each phase of the nursing process and help the student understand the correct nursing actions to take, depending on which phase you are in. The book is broken into different clinical areas so you can concentrate on your weak area and not spend too much time on areas you are most comfortable with. I have used other books by other authors, but Lippincott's is by far the best because it is the one designed most like the NCLEX. The rationale accompanies both wrong and correct answers so you get a better understanding of the material. The test on disk is also formatted like the CAT test you will see on your testing day. This will help relieve your computer anxiety by allowing you practice before you get to the testing site. This is definitely the book to buy to study for NCLEX-RN. You won't regret purchasing this study aide.

One of the best,
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for NCLEX-RN® (Paperback)
Let me first say that this book is best used in conjunction with the Saunders NCLEX book (ISBN 0721603475). The reason is that this book, while it contains questions and rationale for answers, does not have a comprehensive review at the beginning of each chapter. The Saunders book has a great review at the beginning of each chapter but does not contain nearly as many questions as the Lippincott book. That said, authors of the NCLEX say that people who do best on the exam have practiced at least 2000 questions before taking the exam. This book contains 5000 questions and answers. Chapters are broken up by subject matter so questions focus on only one topic at a time. At the end of the book there are five different practice tests consisting of approximately 200 questions each. You should score AT LEAST a 75% on each test before taking the NCLEX exam. There is also a CD-rom included but Mac users should beware--it only runs on Windows. Last but not least, let me say that this book does not guarantee your passing the actual exam. I see that others are frustrated after using the book and then failing the real exam. It is really not the book's fault. This book is merely designed to test your current knowledge and to point out the areas which you need to review. If you aren't passing the real thing, there are clearly areas that you need work in. I am in no way belittling those that don't pass (face it, it's a hard exam), I am only saying that no one book can guarantee you a passing score. Do yourself a favor, get this book and the Saunders book. They are both excellent tools!

THEIR CD IS THE BEST,
By "nvargasn" (Aptos, Ca United States) - See all my reviews

I passed! Using this book and the Kaplan. I used this book, mainly the CD. It's got tons of questions, lot's I found on my NCLEX! I would read the book in bed at night and do the cd during the day, it's got a lot of info you need. The Kaplan is good because it breaks down how to read the question, and how to determine just what the heck it's asking, it would have been good to read this for my tests in school!

Lippincott's Review of Nclex RN 6th Edition,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for Nclex-Rn (6th ed) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful text, not only for the test but for nursing school as well. It divides up all of the subjects that we are currently studying in school and helps for the nursing exams in school as well.

Allows you to feel prepared,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for NCLEX-RN (Book with CD-Rom for Windows) (Paperback)
I purchased this book along with a few others however, this one stood out. The disk that came along with it was the best! It allowed you to practice questions using the study guide or the exam mode. Nevertheless, regardless of what mode you chose to study with, the cd gave you rationales to all questions. It also had a drop down caculator and diagrams that you would see on the Nclex. Use this to prepare for the boards and you'll pass, at least I did.

I highly recommend this book esp. if you're out of college for more than 5 years because it would refresh all the knowledge you have learn in school. It really helped me analyze the questions and choose the correct answer. The CD rom was helpful too since it was similar with the actual CAT exam and it would give you alot of practice on how to take the NCLEX under pressure.Good Luck and I hope this book would also be your next bestfriend.

Watch out!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for NCLEX-RN (Book with CD-Rom for Windows) (Paperback)
I purchased this book to prepare myself for the NCLEX-RN and was very disappointed with the results. I took MANY of the practice tests on the CDROM and after completing them I would review the questions the computer said I had "missed" only to find that the computer was marking them as the correct answers when I reviewed them. The book says you must score 75% on their practice tests in order to pass boards, and all my results were in the 74-76% range, but with many of the "incorrect" answers ending up being "correct" it did not help me do anything except be very stressed out! I took the Mosby's online practice and scored in the 94th percentile--a more true reflexion of my abilities--I passed boards without any problem, but no thanks to this book.

MUST HAVE TO PASS,

Love this book! Went through every question in the entire book as a review and also took Kaplan's prep class. Passed NCLEX with 75 questions. WOW! I owe passing to this book, seriously. If you're hard pressed for time, just do the questions in this book and learn from the answers.

lippincot,

I believe I passed the RN boards by using this review book. It really gives you a good background in diseases and understanding the basics. I would also recommend lippincot and kaplan to pass the boards. It is true what they say you really cannot study per say for the boards, if you understand what CHF is and all the other disease processes you will pass.
One thing they do not stress enough in school is in order to pass the boards you need to do a lot of studing on your own aside from what you get in class. Class is just that enough to pass the class, but may not be enough to pass the boards. Best advise I ever got was do 60 questions in any nclex review book 5 days per wk. take 60 min. then on the other two days of the wk. go back and do a through review of those questions, don't just read what the correct answer is, lots of review books like lippincot will also tell you why the other 3 answers were wrong therefore you get 4 questions and answers from 1 question.

Best Resource for NCLEX Review,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lippincott's Review for Nclex-Rn (6th ed) (Paperback)
Of the 4 NCLEX books I had, including the Kaplan Course Guide, I felt Lippincott's stood out above the rest. The questions were very similar to that of the actual NCLEX.
