I've become a big fan of hot tea and have been trying different flavors just for variety. This one will not be one that will become part of my rotation of teas in the future.

Before it's ever brewed, the tea smells incredible. The orange is noticeable in the bag so that made me excited about the amount of flavor I would get from it. As it was steeping the smell wasn't as nice as it was in a dry tea bag. I took a sip before adding any sweetener and just really didn't taste anything. I let the bag sit in the hot water a little longer and still didn't taste orange or really anything at all.

After adding 2 Splenda packets, it tasted like sweet warm water. I've tried other Lipton Herbal Pyramid Teas and have been pretty happy with the flavors. This was very disappointing to me.

First off, any readers of this review should know that I am very familiar with tea (and infusions, if you want to get specific). I am a tea enthusiast and have tried a wide variety of brands and I now make my own loose leaf herbal tea blends. So, what I'm saying is that I have a lot of experience with tea. Now, onto the review of this particular tea...

You know, the packaging on this tea looks so lovely and nice. It's all pink and yellow with pretty pictures of oranges and hibiscus flowers on it. I thought, "How could I go wrong with this tea? Orange Blossom Hibiscus sounds awesome!". Unfortunately, the it doesn't live up to the pretty name and pretty packaging.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box to sniff the tea (which is something I do with all new teas) is that it didn't smell pleasant. It sort of smelled like a combination of orange-scented car wax and orange-flavored cough drops. Not a good first impression. However, I was hopeful that maybe it tastes better than it smells. So, I heated up some water and steeped a teabag for a full 10 minutes (I like my tea strong). It was awful! Just disgusting and bitter and unpleasant in a weird grassy tasting way that's hard to describe. Over this flavor was a weak note of orange. It wasn't good. So, I thought that maybe I had just steeped it too long. I mean, most people don't steep tea as long as I do, so maybe it just needed a much shorter steep time. So, I heated another mug of water and tried steeping it a mere 3 minutes. It was still just as disgusting as before!

The box for this tea states that it is made with real pieces of orange, but I could not see or smell any orange in the tea bag or taste any orange flavor in the fully brewed tea. The Amazon product description for this tea does state that it "has a tender flavor and gentle aroma." For my taste, the flavor was way too tender and the aroma was much too gentle.

I drink a lot of tea and, if I am going to be spending extra bucks on an herbal tea, I would like it to be more flavorful than a standard tea. This herbal tea was simply too bland. I recently sampled another Lipton herbal tea Lipton Herbal Pyramid Tea Bags, Blackberry Vanilla, 18Count (Pack of 6) which had a distinct aroma and flavor, attributes which are simply missing from this Orange Blossom Hibiscus tea.

Blah just about describes it. While there is certainly an orange scent and taste, that's about the only thing I like about the tea. I had previously tried Lipton Herbal Pyramid Tea Bags, Blackberry Vanilla, 18Count (Pack of 6), which I highly recommend as it is delicious, and was looking forward to trying more flavors in this line. Unfortunately I was left disappointed in the Orange Blossom Hibiscus tea. I like a nice strong brew, though not too strong, but this didn't even come close and is very weak. I even steeped it for about six minutes and it didn't help the strength much. I don't know what it is, maybe the hibiscus, but the taste isn't exactly what I'd call bitter, sharp would a better word for it. As before, I do like the mesh pyramid bags since they don't break easily and there wasn't any tea left on the bottom of my mug. Overall, I am not a fan of this flavor of tea at all and won't be getting it again. I doubt I'll even finish the box and only recommend it to those who like orange and hibiscus.

I purchased this tea for myself and my daughter. I prefer iced tea and she does as well. I have tried this tea both hot and cold, and I can barely taste it when hot. There's more flavor when cold it seems. I think this tea is best cold. Here's how I prepare it:

I take a 16 oz Ball jar and fill it with cold water, and two or three tea bags. (depends on how strong you want it) I put the tea bags in the jar and put the lid of the jar over the string to keep it from falling in. I let it steep for 4-8 hours. I usually make mine before bed and its ready the next morning.

My daughter prefers sweet beverages, but I don't like her to have a lot of sugar. So I replace the regular water with coconut water and that seems to be sweet enough for her. She also likes this hot with regular water. She does not seem to mind the mild flavor.

Another thing I like to do is add 2-3 slices of lemon or orange to the water and tea as they steep overnight. It's highly flavored in the morning.
